Is that silly rule about hoods on the LS1, with or without, different factors, still in effect?

Mickey
As Alan posted you can get in touch with Nitro Joe, but save your breath talking to Wesley, NHRA is not in his vocabulary anymore, he's done, as in stick a fork in it! One of the Best in my book, just had his fill. RJ |

Re: New HP UP
No Joke Alex is serious ,
“Advanced Prototype” 5010, only the tenth Shelby Mustang to be built, was delivered to Shelby-American on December 18, 1964, and Shelby’s extensive performance modifications were completed by January 25, 1965. Chassis 5010 was then sent to the engine department to be supercharged, thereby serving as the lone prototype test bed for the Paxton/McCullogh supercharger, which was offered as an option on later production cars. In May 1965, this Shelby was sent to Bill Stroppe to be fitted with its distinctive 1965 Thunderbird tail lamp units while still in its term of research and development service, a fact supported by the minutes of a Shelby American meeting. Throughout its time at the factory, the specially equipped prototype was used by Shelby-American for publicity and show purposes as was done with a handful of the earliest examples. It is the only 1965 GT350 prototype to be equipped with a Paxton/McCulloch supercharger – a feature later offered by Shelby-American as an option for the GT350 range. Re: New HP UP
Alex asked for a 40 HP reduction so I assume the SC Shelby is in the books? If so, what is it rated at? I'd love to see one of those in Stock. The standard issue 306 HP Shelby needs a big drop in factored HP also. Shooting' from the hip, I'm guessing about 260-265 would be about right. I'll bet there's some sort of service replacement cam that's considerably larger also? :)
Go for it Alex! |

Re: New HP UP
Ed,
Wesley, RJ, Sid and I are having fun doing Popular Hot Rods Engine Masters Challenge. Wesley is the "Boss" Sid pulls the throttle on the dyno, I do the tear downs and tech and RJ... well RJ does.... Well RJ is just paid to be RJ!!! LOL! :~) Wesley also does the Tech for a couple of other race series... One is a series of horseshoe mud racing that I have a handfull of customer racing in. Wesley is one of the most organized, thorough guys I know. Last Sat he worked me over at my shop doing "dry runs" of EMC tear downs. Can you believe working for him is even "More Intense" than going through his tear downs?? For a guy that has worked for himself since 1972 it has been pretty tough working for someone else, but Wesley is "The guy".. I like it!! |
Re: New HP UP
I'm glad to see Wesley has found there is life after NHRA. Good for him!!!!
|
Re: New HP UP
Yes! Glad Wesley is happy, he is one of the best and deserves to be happy! Jim

Re: New HP UP
I knew Wesley was about through with what NHRA has become. It's a damned shame what they've done to our sport and our friends. I'm glad to hear Wesley continues to do what he enjoys.

Re: New HP UP
Several racers have asked, so your faithful reporter searched the newsroom, beep-de-beep-dede-beep-(from an old Superman movie) the LS1 is .739 under on over 300 runs, so those persons can run all they want bedeep-peep-dededebeep. Next time I will use the background from the original Godzilla movie. I have all Godzilla movies, in both English and Japan versions. Just a little note for your Saturday morning. There were 10 triggers.

I'm sensing a Nitro Joe's Stat book premium addition coming out bi-annually for an extra fee obviously... but who wouldn't want to know that info about their combo. |
Re: New HP UP
Ahha Doug, that is very secret, almost as much so as Obama's birthplace. But if you drop a combo on this thing I will see if the beep-de-beep-deep newsroom has any more info.

Re: New HP UP
