Wow Charlie A.. That is awsome info to add to this thread, thanks.
This will be great info for people trying to find out about these cars.
Hopefully we will get some of the owners of these cars to post the history of their cars so we can create an archive of the Cudas and
Darts all in one place for people to research.

Dennis do you know Clayton. If so do you think you can get him to give us some history of the car and some pics. It would also be great to get the vin# and details about where it came from.
Thanks
Bob

Re: Original Hemi Cuda Info.......

Paul: Is there other cars that may have been produced and not recorded? The reason that I ask is that Trenda Motors in Grand Forks, ND received an automatic car. When it was delivered, one of the original Owens Corning windows was broken in shipment. The service manager raced it with a fabricated stock style glass until an original OC glass was shipped out. It took along time to get an original OC glass through parts. He moved and the car ended up in IL and raced with the old UDRA regional group of racers.I talked to the original owner about 10 years ago when he came back for a visit and he told me that he never cut the car up to be competitive with the UDRA while he raced it in the IL area. The car was sold way back in the seventies in the IL area. He also raced a new 426/425 auto 1966 belvidere I two door post car in SS/B and it was sold through Trenda Motors too.

Re: Original Hemi Cuda Info.......

Mr Big Six Man,

There is always a mention of a 1968 Factory Hemi Super Stock 'popping up' {Mystery Car} somewhere.

One that is always mentioned is the BO29 out of Brodlieb Motors in Woodmere, New York.
(Supposedly crashed into a telephone pole during a midnight test run).

And another BO29 found in a garage in Brooklyn, New York.

And another BO29 found in Northern - New Jersey.

Also Sox & Martin getting a shipment of several ('4') 1968 Barracuda 383 cars (less engine and transmission)
in July 1968 or at the end of the 1968 'Production Run' and converting them to SS/B or SS/BA cars, so they could
sell them for $10,000 to make some 'dollars'.

Re: Original Hemi Cuda Info.......

the car i mentioned being in the backyard in Wilson, NC had a Hemi hood on it and was undeniably a former racecar. i know the hood is something easily swappable from car to car but how many of those hoods ended up on other cars? maybe it was a legit car and maybe it wasn't but someone took that car and did something with it, hopefully it wasn't scrapped.

Re: Original Hemi Cuda Info.......

Charlie A., Clayton's "Slo Motion" was the original Thomas & Updyke car out of Tyrone, Pa., number 9 on the list provided.

I remember it when it was new, it raced a lot at old Peterson Memorial in Altoona. I sort of think that there was an owner between Thomas & Updyke, that Clayton is the third owner. But, I could be wrong....

I don't think it's been run for years.

In addition, the Lydon & Johnson original car is sitting in Jim Lydon's game room, in Pittsburgh. Really. I'll try to come up with some pics.

This car is owned by a friend in the Tampa area. Paul occassionally drives it to car shows in the area. He gave me a ride to a show at a Steak & Shake in Tampa about 1-1/2 years ago. Of course he had to show off with some hard shifts. That car is brutal. I think he said it is detuned from what is listed in the article. He gave me a scale model of the car with the pink paint job. He also has a Daytona Charger. I took photos of it with my cell phone, but the photos in the article are probably better. I'm sure Stewart has some good photos of it, so I'll check with him.

Funny how many Mopar guys are in the Tampa Bay area. When I grew up there, I didn't see many Mopars at all. Now there seems to be a lot of them.

Re: Original Hemi Cuda Info.......

I'v never seen that car around here but I haven't made it over to Quaker on Thursdays. I never seem to make it back to Tampa in time to head over there before everyone leaves. I work up in Port Richey about 40 miles north and we close at 6 seems like everyone leaves there by 8, so by the time I get back here they are all going home. I miss the old days when the car stuff lasted till 11 or 12 and racers would go off and the rest would go home.
Thanks for sharing I will make an effort to get over there to see if he's around, I would love to see that car up close.

Re: Original Hemi Cuda Info.......

Back in the mid 80's, I started getting an accute need to own either an original LO Dart or BO Barracuda. Having owned an original 70 hemi cuda since 1976 the desire to have the ultimate of muscle cars needed to be fullfilled. There were basically 2 cars that stood out above all the rest for me. One was Paul Emiro's Barracuda, the other Tim Hennessey's Hemi Dart. At the time Paul's car was in a pearl white paint. There was some magazine coverage done on both cars, along with a video of a ride along of Paul's car. I must have it bad or something, because I must of watched that video 50 times, maybe more, & studied pictures of those cars for literally hours.
Very few people take these things out to stretch their legs, & I applaude Paul for having the Kahonnies to do that. Let's face it, they were never meant to be drivin on streets & simulate a freakin pissed off bear doing it.
Paul's car never came up for sale, and as carma goes, I now own Tim's car . Hmmm, who woulda thunk it????

liteweight

ps; still own that same 70 cuda today, & that particular Dart's been in my corral since 2001..

pss. Great to see you started this thread skypower. That black Barracuda in your avator yours? Is it a BO?

Now we have TWO street legals. One BO and one LO.

Would make a killer picture to see them side by side on a street somewhere.

I would LOVE to be part of that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sad you are geographically so far apart.

I swear I walked past Stewart's Duster (ex-Mopar Missile) at Bradenton once circa 1974 and never knew what I was looking at. The Nelson Des Champs name didn't mean anything to me. Only years later when he showed me photos of the car I thought, boy that car looks a lot like the Missile. Then he told me it was!

I have lived in Tampa Bay most of my life. Oldsmar was the first dragstrip I went to. Now I live just a few minutes from where it was located. Now a

No I wish it was but it is an original big block car. 383 formula S. It is now sporting a 1966 Hemi .045 over, 4 speed, Dana 4.56, ladder bar, coilovers. Motor is getting ready to go in the car just trying figure out what bell housing I want to use. It will be a street car driven on a regular basis.
Motor made 550hp, 516tq on the dyno, with big tube headers so should have some more torque with my 2 1/8 tti's.

I hung out in the Clearwater area. Street raced on the Coutney Campbell causeway. I had a 68 mustang. 302 factory 4 bbl 4 speed car. A few mods. Ran high 13's. It was a fun ride. Probably 76-77. Then I got the camaro and started racing at the track. I am sure we know some of the same people.

Hmmm, who woulda thunk it????

ps; still own that same 70 cuda today, & that particular Dart's been in my corral since 2001..
