Such a sad day for all that knew Scott!
I always think of the great fun times we had when we would run across him at the track.
The first time we really hung out muchwas a few years back when we were down south racing.

Scott had his QSA and was hoping to win class at the Gators. (At least have a chance). There was a Chevy wagon that had him covered and he was worried. We talked him into going to the Orlando Test session and try some stuff.
We tried all kinds of stuff, including one of our fastest Deano 4gc's. He made 18 runs that day and all went quicker then the next, save for one run when he changed tires.

Picked up almost. 30!

Well, the Gators came and Scott was the quickest QSA each run. It was his first class Wally!

I just remember him being so happy and having so much fun, it was just great to be a part of it!

I sure will miss ya Scott! But I won't forget you!

very sad news you don't think we can lose someone so young. two very good guys. prayers to the HELMS and HEBERT family's. they will both be missed very much. Scott was always very good to my parents when they were at gators. THE WOOD FAMILY WILL MISS YOU SCOTT.

It's just a really sad time in south Louisiana. Lost a couple of good folks. Visited with Scott this weekend at No Problem. He was having a hernia procedure either Monday or Tuesday this week, and his Mother was down from Florida to help take care of him. I think he was home, and something obviously happened. I have not talked to Kevin, but when I do, I will post more information. Scott worked for me a couple of years and we were good friends. He was running a parts store in the area. Unique guy. A racer and a racers guy. We shared a lot of good times. He will be missed.

RIP Scott Helms.... Today the racing community not only lost a great racer, but a great man. Scott treated everyone he met like family, he was always helping someone, and he was always happy and smiling. He will be missed by many.... RIP my friend RIP..... I'm still at a lost for shock and in disbelief. Scott was one of my best friends in the drag racing community. He gave be a job at the end of last year/beginning of this year at the parts store by my house. He gave me so advice on how to do retail and taught me so many things. My friend, I'm glad we got to have a couple cold ones this weekend and have supper together Thursday night. RIP and GodSpeed my friend. I'll miss you, but never forget you.

I don't even know what to say at this point. Pat, we all love you and know how much you love those boys and the grandkids. Please call me if there is anything you need me to do. Scott Helms brought a smile to our world and put smiles on everybody that was lucky enough to meet him. Truly a great guy and a pleasure to hang with at anytime.
Remembering any moment with Scott makes you feel good, the news of his passing was just terrible to hear. R.I.P Scott. Our heartfelt condolences to the Helms family.

Kevin and Pat mere words cannot express the way I feel over this tragedy, Scott was joy to be around sometimes more than others.
