Just made run # 2. Picked up a little with the tailwind. 66 cars went down that time. Plourd's transmission line came off during the 1st run and he didn't know it. His 2nd run was fine. Fitzsimmons made it down that time in Larry Griffith's car.

What kind of line did he have, a rubber hose with some clamps? AN fittings or steel line wouldn't just come off.

We got our 3rd run in. It is hot and windy! There were a lot of people picking up that round, trying to get where they wanted for tomorrow's racing. A few people spun that round like Britt Cummings and Dave Ficcaci. We are done for the day! Wine time after I finish with the Gatorade!

We went with Mike and Paula Cotten tonight to a great Chicago Pizza place called Beggars and had a great time. We were winning the trivia contest (we were the oldest people in there) until the final bonus question where you could wager how much of your points you wanted to. We were winning by 5 points and Paula and I wanted to wager 10 points, but Larry and Mike wanted to bet the whole 145 points with the category Native Americans! Well we bet it all and then found out it was a 5 part question and you had to get at least 4 right to get any points. And we only got 2 out of 5 right. Next time maybe they will listen to the women!!!

Well we run 1st and 2nd rounds starting at 9 in the morning. And we have to run our neighbor from 2 miles down the road after driving 360 miles to get here. Oh well, that's racing!

My first experience towing the race car started out pretty good this morning, but then got progressively worse! But at least we didn't get real mad at each other like some husband and wives did today! Hopefully this is the last race that we will have to do this!!

It is a beautiful day here in Joliet. We still haven't had any rain since Wed. (knock on wood)! They are calling for some again this afternoon and evening. We run at 9 this morning. Wish us luck!

We won! We won! Had a hell of a race with Jerry! Both ran dead on with a 9. Difference was Larry's .032 light to Jerry's .047! Round 2 later today!

Who's parked the farthest from the starting line ? I feel bad that a lot of people have to park over by the round track have to use a lot of fuel just to get up to the starting line. Thanks Larry and Patsy for your updates and photos you guys do great !

We are still under a rain delay.The track is almost dry. I just drove from where Brina Splingaire was pitted to the water box on my scooter.I think she wins the Wally at 3 miles.

Well about 2:30 this afternoon (Friday, BTW), we realized that we are done until next Thursday with racing! So what do we do?? Eat and drink, of course! We went over across from the track to Mr. B's and here are some pictures from there. We beat the rain and stayed until after it finished raining. Pros are running now.

I think the Joliet city commission is missing out on a real opportunity to have a "Cruise In" on the route from the sportsman pits to staging. Bring in some Cotten Candy trailers, a portable stage and some 50's bands and line the route with lawn chairs. And don't forget some carny rides including the tilt-a-whirl.

There is some green stuff on the radar and a lot of scary looking clouds, but I don't think anything has actually hit the ground.

We have been watching the racing today! It sprinkled a little just before Stock ran their 4th round. We are going up and watching the All-stars in a few minutes. They are introducing all the teams now. It is still very overcast and lots cooler. Sure not like last year up here. I am even going to put on a jacket to go up to watch! More later. I took a few pics from the stands that I will post later.
