Ok , I promised more and we all know I deliver .........This car is a little not like what we do ( Stock / S/S etc ) but it is neat ( albiet a little ugly to some ) - its a Dodge Phoenix - like a '60 or maybe '61 - I'm sure there are some experts on here who will let us know .....anyway hope you enjoy .

And for those of you who are wondering - yes , I took my meds this morning ! ! !

Good Luck to all.

Can you believe it-New England Dragway is trying to get spectators to attend a points race-who do they think they are? the Baders? BTW, I talked to a track official at the Norwalk national event who said they had 10,000 people pay $25 to attend the points race. That's in addition to the people who got in for free. I bet that if all tracks brought in $250,000 at a points race, the payouts would be a bit higher.

Do you think bringing in all of these Motorcycle classes brings in that many more spectators, i guess i can see Jet cars & wheelstanders.
The Englishtown points race they do not bring in all of these extra attractions.
Prob cause they have a Night of Thrills Race here in July.
I do not think Atco brings in all of these attractions either.

Besides, i've been saying for years that ALL Sportsman Racers should add in 20-30 dollars more, before first rd. starts to ADD in to the Payout. SINCE ARE PAYOUTS
ARE TERRIBLE.

91 Stockers in New England.

So 91 x $20= $1820. $1,000 Winner $400 R.U. $200 Semi's

What Ever Happened To Low Qualifier Money In Each Category That We Used To Get.

Just my .03 cents. Let the rumbling begin.

I do have to say Dave Mohn and the D1 crew and the NED staff did a great job this weekend.
Track prep was pretty good considering the track temp, And even with all the fluff classes that ran on Saturday, we were done racing before 2:00pm on Sunday and on our way home by 3:00 pm. ....The D3 guys were racing all night ,judging from the DRC reports !
BTW, The Fuel Harleys are awesome to watch,Those guys deserve way more admiration than the TF& FC Nitro jockeys. and the rest of the Harleys dont take 10 min. to run.

Was tech warning people about the Camaro hoods at this race? They were at the Div 6 race at Woodburn last weekend. I think there were about 5 or 6 cars that got the warning to have then fixed before Aug 1st.

Awesome race.

Tom is right. Overall the Harleys and Snowmobiles took minimal track time.....In fact they probably helped with the turnaround for the TAFC and TAD.

I was happy to be done with one round in the late afternoon and fire the BBQ and able to enjoy Saturday evening with the family rather than hot lapping around the Saturday Night Alcohol Elims.

A lot of credit has to go to D1 and NED staff that baked in the sun. With temperatures in the upper 90s for the majority of the weekend they really had to be dedicated to stick it out. Many of us could escape to the motorhome or shade for some relieft. They didn't get that option

If I remember back a few years ago Tom & Kathy did a little bounty for the Super Gas guys at all divisionals. Everyone threw in $ 5 or $ 10 and the driver who went the farthest in eliminations got the bounty. It was a nice little bonus for the SG guys & gals to add on to the payout. I think if I remember at Cecil one year the guy who went to the Semi's got an added $150 or $200 bucks. Tom could maybe chim in on the details but, it was a cool little bonus.

We used to do a $20 Gambler ,Calcutta what ever you wanted to call it . 40% to the winner 30% r/u 15% each semi.
We stopped doing it because you had people forgetting to pay and then getting mad when they went to the money rounds and wanted to pay then and we would not take their money.
It can work and pay off ,but it's a lot of work for someone to do it.

Actually, it does bring people in and spectators like to see things like that. I was at the Norwalk points race when Bader packed the place. From 6 pm on, the schedule included only Top Dragster, Top Sportsman, Alcohol dragster and funny car, Comp, motorocycles, wheelstander and jet cars with each running twice. The fans loved it.

Englishtown also has a limited number of nights when they can run loud cars so they want to have the points meet done early and not use one of those nights.

I went up early Friday morning from just north of Philly. I avoided 95N and it took my about 6.5 hours to get there, including stops.

Coming home, I left the track at 1:45 pm and got home 8 hours later because of frequent traffic jams in Massachusetts and Connecticut on 495, 90 and I-84.

My route home was 125 to 495 to 90 to 84 to 684 to the Sawmill River Parkway to 287, across the Tappan Zee, to the Garden State Parkway to the NJ Turnpike to the PA Turnpike.

I went up the same way except I took 684 the whole way and did not take the Sawmill River Parkway.

BTW, is it true that Massachusetts is the Native American word for "Traffic Jam," and that Connecticut means "He who drives under the speed limit in the left lane?"

Remember...casual spectators are there to be entertained, not follow racing. They like things that are fast, loud and spew flames.

100 percent right Jim.

My point was if there was bad weather on sat or sun, how could they get everything in.
Then i noticed the bikes only had a handful, so i should look to see how many bikes
they had first before speaking my peace.

Pete,

Because the forecast called for rain Saturday, They had time delays built into the schedule. When it appeared that the rain was not going to happen, they added a second round of Stock eliminations on Saturday afternoon.Had it rained, they would have run round two on Sunday as planned.

Also, by having TAD and TAFC finish eliminations on Saturday, they can be moved to Sunday if it rains.

The bikes really didn't add much time and the Top Fuel bikes are fun to watch.

Jim

In light night time traffic mid week going up ,made the trip in 6 1/2 using TappanZee -684.
It was 3:00pm till I packed up and left ,so I hit the heavy traffic at 495-290 and again on 90 to 84. from there it was pretty good ,but 684 was backed way up that late in the day, so it was 84 all the way to 87. ...Typical Sunday slowdowns on 87 to 287 but traffic moved fairly good, ...I made it home in 7 1/2 hours includind stops, so not too bad.

Re: Live fromNewEnglandDragway,Epping,NH-NHRA Lucas Oil Seri

The way to the event was 5 hrs leaving a 5 AM Thursday. Route from Paterson NJ: 208 N, 287 N, 87 N, 84 E, 90 E, 495 N, 95 N believe it was 101 to the track. Would rather have taken 125.

Trip home leaving just after 1 PM 7hrs. 125 - 495 - 295 - 90 - 84 - 87 - 287- 208. Heavy traffic on 495 there appeared to be a wreck. 90 heavy traffic. 84 heavy traffic Hartford to Danbury. 87 heavy traffic for no good reason other than people wanted to drive 35 MPH.

Will be back next year. The ASRA guys convinced me to go 2 years ago and brought 100 degree weather with me. Did not go last year and it was cool. Get the wild idea to go this year and it's 100 degrees. Greg said the weather in NH is unpredictable! Think next year will bring my long johns! :p

Friday PM I had it as high as 3500' with 150 grains of moisture and .799 vapor pressure. Saturday PM I had a high of 3900' with 99 deg , .889 vapor pressure and 165 grains.
The only thing that kept the cars running well was the baro that was between 29.8 and 29.9 all weekend.
Track temps on Thursdays Test &Tune got as high as 155 deg. .....I saw about 140-145 on Friday.

Sounds like it wasn't too bad, anyway you look at it it's still 400+ miles. The early finish helps everybody. There is just no good way to get across Conn. The 90/84 spot has and will always be a problem as long as they leave the toll plaza there. You can avoid this by staying on 290 and taking Rt. 20 west to 84 in Sturbridge, it's a two lane road with a few stop lights but I'm sure faster than sitting in that back up on the pike.
I'd just like to say thanks to those who made the trip and supported this race, we've needed a race close to home and now we finally have a few!
