BTW, what were the car counts at Numidia? Any coverage out there on the 'web?
Don't think DRC was there...right? Rob...please try and keep this event alive for next year and beyond. Know it's tough.. trying to find a "clean" weekend...with other events drawing entries away...I want to go to yours... Who said drag racing was "dying"? |
Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
We had 12 Super Stockers enter but, Jeff Tripp & Eddie Bloom both broke on Friday so we had 10 total. 15 Stockers entered but, I know Rich Aman broke at E-Town, Demarzo was sick and Jim Harris broke on Friday. So it left us with a total of 22. We had 12 cars enter the Quickfuel Combo Race on Friday Night. After taking to Nitro Joe I decided to turn it into a combo event so I didn't totally lose my shirt on the event.
I'm not sure if their will be another one of not. Just feel like I put a ton of effort into the event and no one showed up. I just hope that Mike Beards race in Ohio is a successful one and people just aren't on here blowing things up, saying they are going to come and then don't. I know it was up against Charlotte and some racers are chasing the World. Worners, Katie, etc and I was rooting them on all weekend and understand you may only get 1 shot at the WC (I actually told Katie that in a text on Thursday...through Kelli Barbato). Some racers texted me and messaged me on FB & Here to let me know they support it but, just cant get off from work. Is it location, I don't know but, to have 94 Stockers, 80 Super Stockers, 62 Super Street, 59 Super Gas & 89 Super Comp at E-Town the weekend before and then have a total of 87 Cars at Numidia just baffles my mind. We were actually down 33 cars from when Lee, Brian and I did it last year I'm going to get through the final MASCA/MASSA Race at Atco in 2 weeks then start to decide what the next step is. |

Thank you Rob for everything. I am disappointed the turnout wasn't better, maybe the holiday had something to do with it ? I support you and your event, that is why I preentered, before I thought I could even be able to make it.

Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
Thanks Patric! Glad to finally put a name to the face, all the years I've known you working on Small Paul's S/G Car but, never knew your name. I mean as any promoter will say I do it because I love racing and like putting on stuff like this, I don't do it to compete with NHRA or IHRA because we all know that would be ludicrous. I thought Charlotte was far enough away (600 miles for me) that it would still draw a good car count. I knew I would lose some as the World Championship's started to be decided down the road and I don't blame any of them for going down there. You may only get 1 shot to claim one of them so you have to do it while you can. I'm sure my mentor Mr. Ley and I will have a good talk at Atco next weekend as Dave is always good to put light on a lot of things his protege does and point me in the right direction...lol. Like I said 2014 might be tough to jam in an event with the Autometer Class Nationals taking up a weekend in May and I always make sure things are never on top of any ASRA or ECSSA races (Made that mistake earlier this year).
So the few of us that were at the event or even weren't if their happened to be another event in 2014? What would you like to see? Like to see a different location? Everyone I talked too says they love Numidia just the tow to the track is a pain in the rear and parking can be a pain. Like to see multiple races held on days. Maybe like a T&T on Thursday, warm-up race Friday, maybe 2 big races Sat and a Finale on Sunday. Make it worth the tow. Dates? Always an issue with trying to fit events in between D-1,2,3 Races, National Events, Opens and the Associations. Maybe September was a little too late in the year as a lot of people's stuff might be blown up and for us that were there we sure did see cold weather. This is your turn to say something. I know a lot of you are not bashful about voicing your thoughts so make it clean and let me know! |
Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
Hey Rob, my name is Joe Mocci and I'm Gina's dad.I wouldn't beat your head against
the wall trying to figure out how to make everyone happy. You promoted a great race, paid a good purse ,and Numidia is a nice track. What more can one do? I personally would love to attend a dozen races a year like the format you ran. You would think the STUPID money that people spend to do this they might want to recoupe some of there $$$$........but I guess not!!!!! Joe Mocci |
Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
X's two what Joe said, Maybe a small tweek here and there, the location is fine, the race structure was good. I had a member of the Allstars say they wouldn't go because there were no heads up runs. My answer was if you think you and your car are so Bad *** run the CIC race and see if you are as fast as you think you are.

Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
Joe,
I know you well through Gina and a big thanks to her for helping out with the registration and everything else I asked her to do with the event. Trust me I'm not going to beat my head against the wall again for 2014. If the cards are not there then I'm not going to put the effort and time into the event. I know Lee has been a big supporter of the event since Day 1 and Lee and I were talking in the staging lanes on Friday. If I could hire the help to do fuel check, weighing of cars, etc I would but, I wanted to keep it simple and keep a show running smooth and timely. I guess you will never know the real reason why people didn't attend, i know it wasn't from the lack of promoting the event (Even though I know I will hear someone tell me they didn't hear anything about it). |
