You are so right Brett. George almost fell out several times. When we were not getting ready to make a run, we were in the living quarters with the A/C cranked up loud! When it was time to load up, we did it a little at the time.

I don't want to hear you all complaining about the heat. This is what you live for, racing, in all kind of absurd conditions. Do you want it to be snowing, high winds, raining, absolute cold, or what. It's hot out, get used to it, bring out the swimming trunks and play in the spickot. Dial you car for "hot" and go from there. You can always take clothes off, but it's better than having multi layers of clothes on to get warm. I notice that every picture of racers all had smiles on their faces, was it for the camera, or for the conditions. Ain't summer great, and were not even there yet.

Great looking breakfast there Larry, them Cajun boys will capture your taste buds forever.
Jimmy and Co. will make you want to move there.

Yes Ed. I thought there would be 18 to 23 show up, I was counting on the Smiley's , Hall, Glen and Jenny Treadwell and Kevin Duet. The Olkie kid took home the Wally.

Seems there is a limit to the money which can be spent. I am not sure why more people haven't asked for a basic "cheap" class. Yes Comp allows innovation and everyone a place to run their own thing but.... only 12 suggests the group is small across the country. Now the expense has Jumped into SS and S with the factory cars.
Cant be an entry point except the Dime rockets of stock or week end brackets(which are static or dropping)
Time to start an entry class?

Some "cheap" Comp classes were designed and suggested about 15 years ago. Big-dollar cars do not want to compete against (relatively) low-dollar cars, particularly in a first-to-the-finish type class. Comp had low turnouts at Divisionals in the late '90s too. They're still here.

Brackets are only static or dropping where the programs do not fit the needs and desires of the customers. I was just at KilKare Dragway for the first time two weeks ago. Good track, good people, and good program all the way around (which includes an entry level Sportsman class), and they are reaping the benefits with strong turnouts. In March, when many people were snowed in, our Loose Rocker Promotions St. Patrick's Classic at Virginia Motorsports Park had 399 cars between two classes. Racers support programs that provide them with a good value and a good time.

If there is a need in the market that is not being filled, and no one else is doing it, do it.

Well, I had hoped to be posting pictures of some big ole fish that we had caught down at Jeff's fish camp by now. Instead we are sitting at Jimmy Hidalgo's with our motorhome up in the air on jacks waiting to get our old transmission out and a new one in! And now it is raining!! So our vacation gets put on hold while we try to get things fixed so we can get back home. At least we are hooked up at Jimmy's and have air conditioning! Many thanks to Jimmy for all his help in getting us all the stuff we need!

The original Super Modified classes were affordable, then people wanted fully ported heads, 5 speeds, sheet metal manifolds, big tires, etc, etc, etc. There it went.

Ed, you nailed it ! Within the last 3 months there was talk on here about putting together a SPEC HEAD class to keep prices down. Some very positive and some negative thoughts on it. I thought it was a good idea, like going back to the original super modified . Controlling the cost through the spec head , intake , carb and transmission ( no clutchless ).

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose LODRS 2014

Larry, that's the asking price for the camps. More than likely they will take a lower offer. Besides, when you add up all the money spent on your race car, you may be surprised at the figure you have invested. You know what I mean$. When I tell people how much total I have invested, it makes me start to think wow! It's what I do. It makes me happy to be able to participate. I just wish I was 20 years younger!

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose LODRS 2014

Hey Jeff, I'm with you! No way I would willingly get into that water!!

Well, we finally left Jimmy's house at 9 last night after the new transmission was finally installed. Then got up to that long bridge on I-55 and had a blow out on the motorhome! We limped along about another 10-15 miles to where we were finally off the bridge and stopped to check it out. Curb side front outside tandem was the culprit! Limped along again about 10 miles to Hammond and got it changed at the Petro. Just so glad we had a spare mounted tire with us! $16.09 later and another hour and we were on our way again. We drove another hour and went thru 2 truck stops and 1 rest area and finally found a spot to park. By that time it was 1:15. Had the alarm set for 5:15 so we could get up and home for our granddaughter's 7th birthday party this afternoon at 1. We are about 120 miles south of Memphis now. So without any further interruptions, we should make it there. Maybe not on time, but before the party is over!

So we have had a very exciting week! Just wish more of the excitement was from the good things like racing and fishing and not the bad ones!
