I think it would be really cool to have a National Event on an 1/8 mile track. :o

And you think many NHRA racers would show up? Suspect they'd much rather see Charlotte have an Open, but doubtful given Bruton doesn't seem all that interested in having anything additional to what they run there now. With two Divisionals in North Carolina this year that may address NHRA racers wanting to run in the region. Of course if the IHRA falters there would no doubt be some of their regulars who would like to run there, question is would NHRA D2 really pursue it and risk losing $.

I would not expect many NHRA cars to show up.

That is good to hear that they aquired the land I hope they also got some for additional pit space, they may need it!

Well now that the (now former) Southwestern International Raceway (now Tucson Dragway), has joined Rocky Mountain Raceway, by returning to being an NHRA D7 track, the southwest no longer has a dog in this fight, and with the popularity of the RMR double-header last year, I don't see any change in that for the foreseeable future. Good luck to you Northwestern D6 racers, because you're the only western USA places for IHRA west of Texas!

IHRA has run National events for sportsman on the 1/8 mile at Carolina and Huntsville, Ala before and as I recall had good turnouts.

Best eighth mile national events were the holley nationals at Ohio valley dragway.

********I just got this email from IHRA
*****

**** IRGSE Employees and IHRA Stakeholders
From:************ CL and the IRGSE Board of Managers
Subject:******** Update on IHRA President Search...
*
The IRGSE Search Committee agreed upon a very qualified candidate for the position of IHRA President over the weekend. The Search Committee has approved the new appointment and I, as Vice Chairman of the Board of Managers and CEO, endorse the appointment decision.

I wish to thank several of our longstanding sponsors and multiple national media companies for their private input and providing honest and open dialogue as the Committee has done a very thorough review in a short period of time. We are excited about the future this appointment will shape for all.

As I said when we last spoke, the most important impact that I can make in my role is to influence the magnitude of the transformation of the entire IRGSE ecosystem of companies. I do that best by identifying leaders with a personal style and professional qualities that will make the transformation of the IHRA meaningful across every racing class we have and will have in the future, every current and future IHRA member, and each current and future sanctioned IHRA track. We then collectively as a company relentlessly pursue the impact of positive investments in people.

A press announcement and media teleconference with the new IHRA President will take place on Tuesday, February 9. In addition, IRGSE will host several "Town Hall" meetings/calls to employees, sponsor partners, Tracks and IHRA teams.

IRGSE would like to thank Skooter Peaco for stepping in over the last several weeks as the interim President while the search took place. He provided the company with steady leadership during a challenging situation and the Board and myself will remember it.

Shayna will send specific details pertaining to the announcement of the new IHRA President and the "Town Hall" meetings later this week. *

All the best,

CL

An ecosystem is a community of living and non-living things that work together.

Which part are we?

For 1/8th mile? Yes. I wouldn't, and know others that wouldn't.

When Div. 2 had an 1/8 mile NHRA points race, it always seemed like a good crowd to me. Was Div. 2 the only division that had 1/8 mile NHRA points meets?

Bill, I can't say for the rest of the other 6 divisions, but I'm quite certain that Div. 5 only had 1/4 mile points meets, that is unless Iowa might have had one?

Along with the 1/8 mile at Eddyville Iowa, the Kaukauna Wisconsin IHRA races I went to with Tom Rix were run as 1/8 mile on the 1/4 mile track.

Agreed. Ran there 5 or 6 times in my life. Loved it. The Holley Nationals, and the door slammers.

I know for certain that both of those tracks held 1/8 mile division races under the IHRA banner.

I'm not as certain that they have never held an NHRA race, but none that I'm aware of.

Couple of tracks called their bluff and they backed down and agreed to allow these once a year type events.

Mr. McAllister, you are DRASTICALLY misinformed.

Sorry, when I tried to "re-spelt" Kaukauna I wiped out the IHRA!

I posted my concerns about the moves IHRA was making on another forum and got labeled a hater immediately.the issues this organization has been dealing with the last 10 to 15 yrs is crazy. I loved racing with them back in the 80's wish they would just look at then see why all these suits are messing up try keying in on sportsman and bring top stock back WITHOUT!! crate motors
This organization can be great again they just have to let the people that know racing run it. Scooter is a good man try really giving him a chance!!!!!!
