Re: Stock/Super Stock At NMCA
Hand over fist...get a grip. Inclusion of faster wheel standing cars will only HELP the cause and won't hurt you slower cars one single bit.
T bolt racer..you obviously have a greater understanding of what's going on.. Your post is right on the money... Like I said from the beginning I have no problem either way. Either give us wheelie bars in stock...Orrr...include more body styles in NSS where at least we don't have to risk injury to compete..This IS NOT an unreasonable request.... |
Re: Stock/Super Stock At NMCA
The guys at NMCA are reasonable and are paying attention. They provide a safe, fun, fair and friendly environment and want to give you a place to race. If you are interested in the NMCA, but feel the rules could be tweaked, I would recommend taking a few minutes of your time and email Gene Bergstrom gbergstrom@promediapub.com.
I'm quite sure a letter expelling why a nose-heavy Stocker on a 9-inch tire needs to carry the front end (hence the need for bars), and will help them understand that a Stocker is different then a 210 mph power adder car that can ramp in the power. Communication would go a long way in helping them understand why bars are necessary, rather than posting that you're not going unless they change a rule. NMCA has invested in these classes, and they have a nice following of racers, but they would love to see NHRA and IHRA racers try their series. With that, I will be meeting with the NMCA at PRI to discuss having a Stock/Super Stock combo at select events. If this is preferred, rather than joining existing classes, please let me know. Take a look at the NMCA schedule and let me or Gene know what event(s) you could make. Your response could help define the outcome. Thanks, Evan |

Evan - Thanks for the invite...I have great memories from racing NMCA back in the late 90's in the EFI ranks. I don't think all understand how crowded the events can be and the problems associated with adding another class/event without even knowing possible participation levels. |
Re: Stock/Super Stock At NMCA
The fact of the matter is....NMCA does not need us.....The only people that care about Stk/SS is us.....NMCA does not need our constant bickering, our driven agendas, and our holier than thou attitudes....We are more trouble than we are worth......

Re: Stock/Super Stock At NMCA
I can tell you the NMCA is interested in racers with muscle cars coming out and checking out an event. Heck, you could put your car in the car show and just take in the racing, swap meet, and manufacturers midway. No, they are probably not going to rewrite the rule book for cars that have never attended an event, however, they are open to suggestions and are strongly looking at some Stock/Super Stock combo races.

As posted before in this thread, a combo race is the easiest and the most "new participant friendly " way to go. Class racers make no changes to their cars or their routine. Plus, with a combo race the track announcer could "talk-up" the class cars and try to explain to the spectators a little about these cars and what we can and cannot do to them. |
Re: Stock/Super Stock At NMCA
The General Rules Committee met and we have decided to put together an entire "New Class" rules package for 2017. We realize there are many competitors with Stock and Super Stock and similar cars that would like to compete in the NMCA Championship Series but do not fit the current rules for Nostalgia Super Stock. We are looking at a 5 tenths full tree, brake out eliminator the would have the feel and design of Stock / Super Stock combo but from there it is a clean sheet of paper. We would ask that anyone interested please submit you suggest ASAP to nmcarules@promediapub.com

http://classracer.com/classforum/showthread.php?t=64092 I just sent my request to the NMCA. Please be a dial your own et format and not a 1/2 second apart index based format. I just ran one of those 1/2 second apart index races 3 weeks ago at the NMRA World Finals and it was a lot harder to slow my Stocker down 3 tenths to hit dead on the index than I ever imagined... |

Your wish was granted.... This is from the NMCA Facebook page

Re: Stock/Super Stock At NMCA
I raced NMCA EFI classes back in the 90's and it was fun, just finished a superstock car and I would like to have another venue to race with, but the $$$ spent on these cars now days is a lot. So to ask the NHRA stock/superstock guys to have to change anything on their cars to run a different association doesn't make sense to me and IMHO most NHRA guys probably won't. So just add a stock/superstock class to the show, no need to reinvent new rules.

Re: Stock/Super Stock At NMCA
My car will hurt itself without wheele bars. It has been on one wheel. It got bent so bad at Charlotte that we had to go to frame shop to get it straight. That's why my car needs wheele bars
