The tracks tried to vote to wait until 2018 so everyone would have it and the vote got mysteriously cut off by the moderator.. Whoever that was.

No, and that's the the point. Cutting a light and running the number are two fundamentals that every person involved in a handicapped race should be subjected to.

First car has a clean tree and has to go green. Am I missing something? If you leave first and go green, you have done your job. Isn't that what we should be striving for in racing? Doing our job and not requesting the rules to be changed? It has been this way since the beginning and seems to get liberalized more and more every year.

And yes Billy - a toast of Cuervo to you also!

What is a clean tree?

A clean tree would be what the first car to leave sees. No disruption by the other car moving.

I think that they need to build a wall all the way down the center of the track to level the playing field. Right now, it is way too unfair.......

The slow cars that always leave first don't know, or don't believe it. They just think they are being mistreated . I prefer leaving first so I have a clean tree. If I go red first, I screwed up. It's over. My fault. No participation trophy needed.

Simple solution - don't redlight

This is trying to say who ever failed the least should win

Try waiting 2 seconds after the slow car goes by your tree

Who cares - don't redlight

Your knowledge of the terminology we use helps to explain your finger racing internet name.

To be fair we will all need to run singles and then compare time slips to see who Won. And also put up a wall on both sides of the race track so there are no distractions from the spectators, see where this can go.......

Better yet a coin flip heads or tails would be way cheaper then no money has to be wasted or made by the manufactures

Sure it will. I've had a delay box on a 20 second street car before. Use a 2 Step with the front line lock and chip it down.

Slow Car has been "on" all weekend. In the final he goes .004 red, runs it out and is .012 safe on his number. Had he not staged a little dirty, he would have been almost unbeatable. Fast Car didn't notice Slow Car's red light as he was too busy trying to keep his car from stalling. It eventually does come up on the chip as he looks up to the tree and sees the top bulb light. In his flustered state he reacts to it, the car lurches forward, dies and rolls to a stop 30' out with a puddle forming underneath.
Later that night in the pits while celebrating Fast Car hears a rumor about something called Trustart and accuses Slow Car of wanting a Participant Trophy.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Seriously though, I think it all comes down to focus. The guy who can focus deeply enough to consistently hit the bottom bulb has probably already pretty much mastered mentally blocking out the visual distractions. I think our biggest potential distraction is inside the helmet.

Great story. I also agree the clean tree is inside the helmet. I've been slow and fast and have no problem with clean tree when being fast.

Re: Trustart Debate

Thanks Jeff but that's not exactly what I said. I would say clean tree is an advantage and dirty tree requires more focus. With enough focus the advantage of the clean tree can be lessened or negated. I prefer to be the fast car as in my opinion being able to see the race/finish line is more advantageous than a clean tree.

Clean finish line as opposed to a dirty finish line?
