No, it's California - conservatives!!!!

Good news barring tech, there'll only be 32 racers who'll not qualify in the field at this years race (since only 160 of the available 180 spots were taken this year in Stock & 145 for Super Stock for the unlucky 17). However, the bad news will be for whoever those 32 (and 17) racers are....

Gary, there are 26 cars entered in factory stock, 18 drop back in to regular stock.

Officials were setup and ready to go at 7am handing out paper work and pulling rigs in. Bob Lang was also there to greet us in line and helping out with the paper work, a welcome sight. Rigs are moving in at a good pace.

Started at 7:02am and we were #51. Parked at 8:02am so they are at the right pace this morning.

The alternative is Earlville for the Heartland/MCR race...gates are never closed. Come in and park whenever and wherever you'd like. And you get to race for $4000 EACH DAY! Another bonus is you don't have to waste a week's vacation.

Parking is going amazingly well!! It is 10;00 and #167 is being parked! Everyone is being able to park pretty much where they would like. Parking people are nice and friendly ! Credentials are going well also. They have moved to the teardown tent.

Hey Tom - - Last year only 6 of the factory cars made the top 31 of qualifying - not bad.
The field should be 16 and the rest go home, but that has been discussed already.

I'm sure I speak for many on here when I say, we can't wait for the photos. I know that the business of parking, setting up, and car preparation are first. But don't forget that all of us at home would love to be as fortunate as you folks that are there competing this week. Hats off to the parking crew. They are doing a great job, the number 2 stacking lot is almost empty, it looks like everyone will get in with no issues.
I was talking to Mark Adams, he handles all the logistic and getting the right personnel. Judging by the way today's parking is going, they have the right guy in charge.

The credential line was light, Its been like this all day. They have 3 very polite young lady's working to get all your paper work in order along with Dave Ley to handle any tech issues. You could not ask for a more streamline day. I can not give enough credit to the NHRA crew today.

Agreed...after the debacle we experienced in Houston, the NHRA staff was ready and performing well! Hardly any registration line and everyone says parking was a breeze. Kudos and thanks!

Anybody else notice the schedule showing stock and super stock running 8 rounds? Shows round 7 Sunday then finals. Unless I'm reading it wrong which i could be.

Last 2 days they said main gate open 24/7
However as we left tonight 2 motor homes with trailors were coming down west edge county rd
I'd try main entrance, at least there is room to turn ariund

Looks like some good competition coming up soon, wish I was there escaping the heat and humidity we have here.

Love all the pictures. The new Mustangs look odd with 15" wheels but the Camaros and especially the Challengers look silly. (compare the proportions to the John Cooper 64 Fairlane and Carl Weisinger 64 Belvedere)
