check out maps.yahoo.com and type in Indianapolis Raceway Park, then satellite, then zoom on in. You can see all the trailers and some cars in the staging lanes.

You're welcome everybody. I really like racing and this is my little contribution.
Didn't go up to watch SS, but I just heard them say that Westcott is the fastest SS/AH at 8.77, if I heard them correctly.
We run again in about an hour or so.

Re: Live from Indy!!!

Just got back from our 2nd run and I had to get in the cool and sit down for a while. It was worse in the stands than last weekend in Bowling Green. You don't appreciate those covered stands til you sit out in the sun. On our guages back in the pits, it was 96 degrees with adjusted altitude 3360'. It is HOT! I don't think anybody much picked up except the #1 qualifier. He went 1.36 under this time. Most everybody else slowed down .04 or more. A few more cars showed up this time. There is not a clean-up session on the schedule, but everything seems to be running pretty well. We'll just have to wait and see if there is another session.
More later.

Patsy,
Thanks for the great "live" coverage, it's generous of you and much appreciated by all. The heat seems to have effected the Hemi cars in a big way, is the track good enough for the SS/AHs?

Re: Live from Indy!!!

Sorry, but it was so hot today, I did not get back up to watch superstock run. It was 103 when they were running. So I am sure the heat was affecting the hemis.
Mr. Perrone, aren't you the same person who beat us in the finals of class last year?
Late this afternoon everyone was getting everything ready for class tomorrow. We have 1 time trial, then super gas runs, then round 1 of class.
The weather is starting to cool off a little. Looks like it's going to rain, then suppose to cool off.
Just got back from dinner. Tom Rhoda came down to watch class and took us out. I think he is having withdrawal systems from selling his car.
Haven't heard any more rumors about protests although a couple of cars ran faster than the Louisiana boys. We'll see tomorrow, I guess.
Went by Wann's pit earlier and I never saw the like of blue smoke. He said he was using some secret sauce.
Al Corda has had his car up on Cotten's lift trying to figure out why his has slowed down.
More tomorrow.

Re: Live from Indy!!!

Track prep was done several times during time trials. Rick used VHT, Gold Dust and the tractor to keep the track in the best condition for us. Rick would stop in the middle of racing to spray and dust trying to keep ahead of the sunshine and track temp. Track temp second hit was in the low 130. The starting line crew did their best to keep the track in good condition.

Patsy Jimmy spun frist run but still went almost a second under. looks like it may be a good car! the fun part is going to be getting in their sat. or sun. or mon. to pick it up! I think Charley is playing games with the old wagon! one of the few to pick-up second round?;) I think that engine has 8 passes on it now...who knows how fast it is! Good luck in "class" Patsy!! I think ya have them covered this year!!

Re: Live from Indy!!!

I don't know where Scot is parked, so it may be after the 1st round of class before I can find him. Lots of people picked up this morning. Lots cooler, but headwind. Super gas running now. They will be calling us up soon. This is what we all came here for. James, Lee's running real well.

Hey Brian, where in Saudi are you? I spent some time in Damaam and Al Khobar a few years back. This is not time to be over there. It's hot as hell, I remember.

Re: Live from Indy via Hickory, KY !!!

It's currently raining at Indy. Not hard, but a good, steady mist. Dad has bye run 1st round of class. It's getting cooler all the time, so folks may have to run pretty hard relative to 1.15 under to win...

Larry Hill 08-30-2007 11:27 AM

Re: Live from Indy!!!

Hey Brian, be careful over there.
Well, it is misting still. They like about 20 or so super gas, then class. A/SA thru H/SA are in the lanes and singles. We have the bye, with Hill and Buckner matched, Wann and Black, and Simpson and Truman.
The wheelstand of the race goes to Brett McFarland from the run this morning. I thought he was going over, but he just rode it out. Really was nice. Lots of Superstock racers in the stands and they were even ooh-ing and aah-ing. Also nice wheelstands by Fred Suiter, Danny Black and Lambeck.
They are drying the track again, so I'm going back up.

Re: Live from Indy!!!

You would think that NHRA could live the live audio broadcast going during Thursday of Indy also! Oh wait, no "Pros".. Nevermind......

Thanks Patsy for the updates!! The more the merrier! Gotta keep Larry in so the reports keep coming!

Lee likes that "FOUND" Nova. Kinda like an Apollo. Distributor on the wrong end of the engine though!
Is it true the Nova in Spanish means "No Go"? Or maybe Nova is just short for

N-- Nova
O-- Omega
V-- Ventura
A-- Apollo

All those X-body cars. Weird

Keep the updates coming!!

Thanks again all!

Re: Live from Indy!!!

The heck with NHRA's none promoting of our class. I just put up $550 for it to be on You tube..one person says they will atleast do rounds in elimintions. Why can't we get class eliminatons be on live? Dam that makes me perturbed. Good luck Larry and the McFarland Crew!

Jared Jordan 08-30-2007 01:01 PM

Re: Live from Indy!!!

Didn't NHRA have a program a few years ago for Pay-Per-View events? How sweet would that be for Indy? Say $100-150 for Thursday-Monday. They wouldn't even have to pay an announcer! Just pipe in the track announcer's voice!

I know I wouldn't be off the couch for 4 days.

I would be happy to follow the I-Card online. something to keep me busy at work.

Re: Live from Indy!!!

Final got thru the 1st round of class. Danny Black had a monster wheelstand after he red-lighted. Longest one I have ever seen. And in a borrowed car. I hope Jamie was here watching. Not a lot of surprises 1st round. DRC should be putting up round by round. something happened to Sturgell and he got beat. I will put up more after we run the next round. They just called us back.

Re: Live from Indy!!!

Well, we got beat by .005 on a hole shot. Larry had a .52 light and Buckner had a .24 light. We went 10.78 and David went a 10.80. So it will be Buckner and Wann in the finals. It is looking like the bump will be about .89 under, but the final (pending teardown) has not come out yet. Buckner already had a sticker on his windshield for teardown before that round. Looks like he had already been picked whether he won class or not.
Oh well, it is time for a wine slushee!
More later.

I don't know where in the states you are going but it's hotter than hell in Southern California now and almost as humid as it is where you're at. We had thunderstorms early this morning and it is uncomfortable. Welcome back to the good ole US of A. I remember when I came back, it was so good to see a woman. The best I was able to do over there was sneak over to Bahrain every few weeks but it was such a hastle getting back through customs it almost wasn't worth it.

Bump will be closer to -90.2

SC2422 08-30-2007 04:33 PM

Re: Live from Indy!!!

I'm just "guesstimating" but I've got the bump with class winners at Mark Faul's .928 under. Granted, this is the first time if ever tried to figure it out....

Tony Janes 08-30-2007 04:40 PM

Re: Live from Indy!!!

I agree I have postion 110 Bumped which is 92.0. This depends on who get thrown out.

Larry Hill 08-30-2007 06:51 PM

Re: Live from Indy!!!

Been up ;watching super stock watching the oil downs. Someone just did a big wheelie and broke the oil pan. So I came back for another drink and some peanuts. 1st time I have watched ss, but everyone said nobody was picking up. The sun has come out and it has warmed up.
The ones that I have heard that have to go to teardown so far in stock are: Buckner, Harrison, Downing, Zink. When I hear more, I'll let you know.
