My pleasure Ed, we just completed round 2 and I'm still in. I'm starting to feel a little better now, I'll try to get a sheet with second round winners if they get it out quicker this time.

Thanks for all your great reporting as always! I couldn't help but notice Lee Tuttle was dialing above his 9.30 index is that a live timing error or did he actually dial above his index and win rounds?

HR9121 04-14-2018 08:06 PM

Re: Live from Galot Division LODRS 2-3

PJ I honestly don't know, I never noticed his dial in this weekend but looking back at live timing it sure looks that way.

His first two opponenents went RED, but according to DRC he dialed ABOVE his index, which is an absolute NO NO....nice observation PJ, at least someone was paying ATTENTION.....Back in the day, many racers would tape the indexes to their dashboard for this very reason.....

How does that even happen? Obviously no one was paying attention, including his competition.

Nice Photography Work Todd, watch out you might get a full time gig doing it, lol....

Was that the same 69 Camaro that banged the wall at Gainesville in 1 of your pictures ??
Looks like it.

I think so, near the end of the lanes first photo. It had a new quarter and fender on it. Glad to see he's up and running.

The one in the picture with no primer is actually Brent Pozzi but Eddie's car was fixed and racing.

I hope someone comes up with an explanation as to how a car was able to dial over the index. The index is what makes stock and ss a performance based eliminator. Otherwise it's just bracket racing...

You would think that every racer checks the Q sheet to see where he is qualified, notices his index , etc....Maybe the racer in question has never ran the 1/8 mile before and just made a mistake. Back in the stone ages a track employee or tech man would check all the dials in the staging lanes for this very reason. Just can’t help but wonder what would have happened if the racer in question went 4 or 5 rounds ?? Also with today’s sophisticated timing systems , shouldn’t there be a safeguard in place when dialing over the index, Michael Beard ? Anyone know ?

Kind of what I was thinking MJ, you would think with today's computer programming this couldn't happen.....

Computer is suppose to go red or something when a car dials over the index. Crazy that this can happen.....

Re: Live from Galot Division LODRS 2-3

I emailed Rich Schaefer asking for an explanation. He said it was tower error. If it happened one round I could see it, but two rounds dialed over the index? I'm not buying it.

Re: Live from Galot Division LODRS 2-3

Personally I can believe it, most likely the person entering the dial ins was a regular track personnel that is not familiar with stock/ss rules. Me personally I always look at the other racers dial in and I look to see where they qualified so I know what their index is going to be. I would like to think I would have caught this, maybe or maybe not. I would also think anyone that races stock/ss would know this as well being its the first goal you have is to be able to run under the index.
