Re: “Live” from Beech Bend Jegs Sportsnationals 2018
Just a quick comment. I looked at the weather and told my brother we're going to get wet and probably rained out but he said he wanted to go. So after a 12 hour pull we were there at Beach Bend Raceway what a nice place. I'm glad I listen to my brother. It didn't rain and the weather was great. The track crew had the grounds in great shape and the NHRA crew did a great job also. Thank You Kenney Kelley

Re: “Live” from Beech Bend Jegs Sportsnationals 2018
Had only raced at this track once before, that was in 1972. It was a great place to race then, and even better this time. I really enjoyed the weekend, race was well run, great hospitality all around.

A fact is a statement that can proven true or false. An opinion is an expression of a person's feelings that cannot be proven. Opinions can be based on facts or emotions and sometimes are meant to deliberately mislead others.
Another words put up or shut up. |
Re: “Live” from Beech Bend Jegs Sportsnationals 2018
Obviously, when a competitor who lost a round is re instated there is something FISHY in Denmark. When an organization posts no public information then rumors begin to fly....I received a telephone call on Friday informing me of Jim’s outstanding run in Tulsa, 10 days after the Bowling Green event. According to my source Jim also pulled the trans pan and everything was OK......Thank You to the tech crew at Bowling Green and the D 4 crew for your effort in maintaining a level playing field......Congrats to Jim and Mary Hale on an outstanding run in K SA.....

Re: “Live” from Beech Bend Jegs Sportsnationals 2018
This weekend he dropped the transmission pan at Tulsa to prove it did not have a trans brake but the week before would not drop the pan at Bowling Green and got DQ'd. Enough said.

My source told me Jim offered to pull the pan after the next round, win or lose. He was told no. It's now, or load it up. Seeing there's still a lot of "supposin'" going on here already, I suppose Glendora might have decided that route was a bit too extreme, and then allowed Jim to race this weekend. |

Ok I know I’m slow but almost every stocker I know of or seen race has a transbrake. Why would he be in trouble for running a transbrake in his stocker?

Re: “Live” from Beech Bend Jegs Sportsnationals 2018
Checking for a transbrake is easy. First see if the car will backup without pushing a button. If it will not backup, look for a wire going to the transmission and trace to its source. That will show the car has a transbrake. Dropping the pan is just the icing on the cake.

How does a racer go from zero points at the Sports Nationals to number one qualifier at Tulsa the next week?

Re: “Live” from Beech Bend Jegs Sportsnationals 2018

That's generally the difference between a 'bracket brake' and a quicker 'pro-tree brake'. At any rate, testing reverse won't help determine if a transbrake is installed or not. |
Re: “Live” from Beech Bend Jegs Sportsnationals 2018
I always thought that if you see a car relax the rear tire or car takes a set then it has a transbrake. I would think it would be easy to spot one on the starting line. At least from what I have been involved with at big buck bracket races.

But that's not the situation here. Nobody was accused of using a brake on the line. The question is whether Mr Hale had to use a button to back up, after he had rolled too far forward on the scales. He says no he didn't . NHRA tech says he did, or might have. Guess who won that go 'round. |
