Brian, you do realize how big of a baby you come off as. If they gave your combination in SS/BA or SS/JA horsepower back, you're asking for your combo only.
With SS/AH they gave EVERYONE in the class index back. Same as giving index back across the board in SS/BA and SS/JA to ALL cars in that class! You do realize the only place this matters is on the qualifying sheet, mainly at Indy where the fast AH cars went home and the AH cars that came to race went home also. Because they weren't qualified!!!!!!!!

And to cry about the SS/AA &BA Camaro not being soft??!! Doesn't Mr Armstrong (no Disrespect) own one of the fastest cars in SS/AA? Isnt it true the corvette took a hit (again Mr Armstrong) and cant run with the Camaro which is the reason He ( again Mr Armstrong) is building a Camaro? Because it is softer than the Vette which no one seems to be able to run with. Hats off to A&J Automotive as they race the old fashioned way. Walk "softly" and carry a big stick! You come down to div 4 and I will introduce myself and teach you some manners. Gator

Hey Gator, Brian Oakes is a real racer and used his real name. Who are you? Pretty easy to criticize people when you don't even use you name.

Re: AH index's

I guess I don't understand why anyone (except someone who runs one) would care about the AH index. 1st of all the parts are hard to find and extremely expensive, unlike a small block chebbie. 2nd, most hemi guys in Div III go to the divisionals, make a pass and go home, they just want to get a grade point, they don't run the eliminator. 3rd there are only a few shops in the country that build competitive hemi's and I couldn't guess the price tag. 4th, Indy is the only place that you will have that many hemi's show up and most of them don't run the eliminator, they are just there for the chootout. Since there are not that many chootouts anymore I would imagine there will be less and less hemi's running. Keep in mind most SS indexes only got the .3 while the hemis got hit twice. When you look at Indy and there are over 20 cars in the same class and the fastest one doesn't make the top 1/2 of the field there might be a reason to look at the class.

Mr Jim, if I post my NHRA number does that change any of the facts I stated.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I was seriously contemplating a comeback in either comp or SS, but to be honest I don't really like what I see and hear here. I never minded throwing my hard earned $ at a problem, but buying motors and crying for hp off, fielding blocker cars to win a championship - thats not me. Yes I've set records, won NHRA races, hell even won class but - I looked in the mirror proud of my actions. Some people will never understand that. Carry on and disregard the facts. Give all the SS/JA & SS/BA Camaros hp back. That will make the world right again in NHRA

Well Mr GATOR or keyboard racer, you have no clue how the system works now days, IF you could get a car to go fast enough, maybe you could come back, but since ya don't have the balls to use your own name, we will never know if you did TRY to come back. and also you don't get the point, on how the AH got there index back, as they could have used the system and it would have worked. So until you get a car out here, stick with the keyboard, and anytime ya want to come to D1 or D2, bring your **** along. Brian

Does anyone get it that Nhra thought our index was 9:45? They think they only gave us .15

Man they just forgot, it happens. I always use a rhyme to help. Like trig with a right triangle. "Oscar had a hunk of azz" Opposite over hypotenuse (sine) Adjacent over hypotenuse (cosine) Of azz Opposite over adjacent (tangent). That index wont last long, but like Beach said, who cares?

Re: AH index's

A SS/AH car is run off the same weight break as a SS/AA car which has an index of 9.70. NHRA created the SS/AH index to prevent adding weight to the hemi cars when the hemi engine builder wars were on. The current index may be soft, but many hemi participants have had to run off a hard index for many years. I am sure there might be a small index adjustment before Indy this year, but the current adjustment is very justified. If anyone thinks this is an easy car to run, please jump in and join the clan. At Indy we have had the largest amount of participants of any class and the smallest number (percentage wise) of cars to qualify in the top 128. No one makes us run this class and many do because of wanting to keep this group alive after 50 years, but for the pride of saying you did it. Fast or slow.

Frito got a phone call yesterday that lasted 45 mins about some people still trying to keep the Hemi Challenge going. There is $$ and interest Dyno but still a lot to do to make it happen.
