As long as we continue to complain about the few young men and women in this sport. largely driven by jealously and/or some self righteous, self serving notion that these “kids” haven’t paid their dues and therefore are undeserving of the Car they race and their successes, the future of drag racing is doomed and it will die with the moniker of the old man sport that it has become.

Ya know Ed, I didn't read that anywhere. You're assuming.

General Services Administration. Just the mere mention has our enemies quaking in their boots. Sorry Ed, talking about Military Service, not agencies that were closed during the last government shutdown.

Hey Bill, I think that Fernandez was referring to the Girl Scouts of America.

Billy, rather than tell your story about another racer driving a faster car than you taking the first turn off you chose to state he was a "kid" and that he was driving a brand new car that was faster than your slow stocker...

that's a fact not an assumption

Just where is it "implied" that the "Kid" (person younger than me) was not qualified to race nor purchase the car? He made a big, possibly fatal mistake. All that I said was it is a nice, fast car. Whether it's faster or slower than my car is only relevant to the story for the fact that I was behind him on the racetrack.
For you to say that I implied or said anything to the contrary is an assumption on your part. And an in-correct assumption at that.

and just a little FYI Ed, over the years I have put many more "Kids" in my cars to give them a start in racing than you ever will.
Just how many "Kids" have you helped out or given a ride to over the years? Not counting your own.

Last time I checked this was a “Stock/Super Stock” page. So if you don’t like “slow” stockers maybe you should go troll another page elsewhere !!

Billy, that’s what you should be talking about and offering here not complaining about a kid and his new fast streetcar that turned off the track at the first exit. You’ve made countless passes over decades and should expect the worse when you are at a test/tune and there is a kid in a Street Car in the other lane who doesn’t have a fraction of your experience and quite possibly it was his first time down a dragstrip.

Ya know Ed, you're right for once. When I get done with this weekend, I'll start a thread exclusively pertaining to how we "old poops" can attract young people to our sport. I expect that you'll participate in a positive manner?
But just one more thing about my "complaining", if it keeps one Racer (possibly even your son) from getting hurt or worse then my posting this thread will have been worth it.

Billy, I’m right more often than not and if you open your ears and eyes, observing what I know and what I do at the track, you’ll find yourself coming to this conclusion all on your own and after which you’ll be agreeing with me here more often than not. That said, I’m all about promoting what we do and helping the kids be successful. Done for now, heading to the beach to enjoy another perfect day in Maui with my family.

Now that right there is the silliest (I can use other words but I won't) most arrogant thing you've ever said on this site.
At what point in time do you douse yourself in gas, light yourself on fire and start screaming "Look at me, Look at me"?
Thanks Ed but I think that I'll just stick to the way I've been doing things for the past 45 odd years. I've done OK.
Maybe some day we can compare Wallys.

Yep, Billy even helped this kid, so he could run the original Class Nationals. Even went to Ohio to pick the car up when I was moving out West.
But, some folks are so completely full of themselves all the time, that they don't notice stuff like this.
You know, the proverbial Legend in Their Own Mind type . :-(

Geez, that was a big expense for Weinle LOL. Insurance just have made him do it.

Seriously, when we did our first few events, we had a similar handout. Problem is , people would throw them on the the floor of their vehicles at the ticket gate, then come around and ask me questions that were already there in print.
The best thing to do is have a drivers meeting , especially when there are newbies involved. Everybody has to show up and listen to the rules and safety procedures.
I don't know who's running "The Beav" now, but they need to hear about this incident.

Again, Billy should have expected the worse this was his local track’s test/tune day/night, not a test/tune prior to a divisional run by the host track. I would never stage my cars on a local track’s test/tune day due to track conditions alone no mind the type of cars predominantly in the lanes.

Seem like you have changed your tune.
Are you a huge egotist in person or does the internet just make you look that way?
No need to answer I'm on my way to a test and tune.
