Re: NHRA rules for everyone but STEVE TORRANCE
Emotions running high, everyone tighter than a piano spring. Right or wrong, Torrence thought the guy was trying to screw him up rather than race him clean at the climax moment of the season.
Understandable he would be cranked up when he got out of the car. He's high strung anyway. Agreed, he shouldn't have gone hands on. They shook hands, made up, maybe have a laugh over a beer and become pals. No one knows what transpired after the fact. Ferre gets noticed, maybe some new found notoriety. It's over with. If NHRA wants to fine him and maybe dock him points for a race next year, after all the banquet festivities are over, that would make sense. |

Was Autostart turned-off? Were they holding the tree for DEEP??????? Get real! He got hung-out for a tad bit, but ALL WITHIN THE RULES! And when he finally staged he rolled right into DEEP! Did John Force get slapped, punched, yelled-at by anyone he Deep Staged against this year? Did John Force NOT race cleanly????????? I was a Steve Torrence fan, but after that bull**** ***** slap, he can go ***** himself! People with money think they can do as they please. Doug Herbert would have folded him up like a suitcase! |
Re: NHRA rules for everyone but STEVE TORRANCE
The Torrences have been our close friends for over 20 years.Nothing was given to them. They are fierce competiters in business, sports and life in general. They are hard working, good people. As long as there is competition, there will be altercations. If you have never had the desire to give someone a shove, you probably need to get your testosterone level checked.Congratulations to Steve,Billy,Kay and all those Capco Boys!

Re: NHRA rules for everyone but STEVE TORRANCE
Biggest problem I have with this is it was done right in front of an official. if any of us would have done that we would’ve been immediately suspended. why the double standard???? Shouldn’t the rules be enforced the same?

Re: NHRA rules for everyone but STEVE TORRANCE
NHRA posted "We are evaluating the matter and any potential penalties will be assessed after a thorough review".NHRA has to be aware of whatever penalties are given (if any) it will set a precedent for future similar incidents in all classes. They may just impose a"big fine" and a public apology which would not be acceptable.Have to see how it plays out...gsa612

Re: NHRA rules for everyone but STEVE TORRANCE
NHRA posted about their “disappointment” over the incident, but apparently not so much that they stop posting promotional videos about it. Gimme a break, they’re pondering the precedent set by it when if a sportsman behaves similarly the precedent is already established, DQ’d on the spot.

Re: NHRA rules for everyone but STEVE TORRANCE
Well, consider that if NHRA decides to impose a fine, they get to keep the money, that might motivate them...

Re: NHRA rules for everyone but STEVE TORRANCE
The NHRA awards ceremony was today,I wonder if he received his Championship Wally.By rights it should be held pending on the findings of NHRA's "thorough review" of the incident. And after the review is complete that they still deem him worthy of being a "Champion"...gsa612

Dammit, we need Ed Bigley to tell us how we're supposed to feel about this!

Maybe they have a double-secret rule for un-pro like conduct. Obviously unsportsmanlike conduct rule DIDN'T apply, like it would for any sportsman competitor.

Re: NHRA rules for everyone but STEVE TORRANCE
Seeing ST was awarded the TF Championship last night says to me there is not going to be any hard disciplinary action. With all the comments on various sites NHRA wants to down play this as much as possible for the sake of losing sponsors, fans etc. It's always about the money!.I'm sure they had a long talk with both involved.I see the next step being they hold a press conference with ST and Ferre present.ST opologizes for his"heat of the moment reaction" Ferre accepts, they bump fists end of story. Then the only action NHRA "MAY" take is a fine.Hope I'm wrong but we all know who were dealing with...gsa612

Re: NHRA rules for everyone but STEVE TORRANCE
They should put on gloves and have a charity match in the ring.

Re: NHRA rules for everyone but STEVE TORRANCE
Steve Torrance is a disgrace and not a true champion. A champion shows class in good times and in bad, under pressure, after a loss and after a win. His folks should be embarrassed.
As for NHRA they have posted it everywhere for media attention and the almighty $$. |
Re: NHRA rules for everyone but STEVE TORRANCE

No double standards at NHRA. I believe it was Greg Anderson who got a big fine for flipping up his visor before leaving the racing surface a few years back and then we have this guy who only got a finger wag..

Will this altercation be added to the new video being produced by RAP, (Racing Antics Productions), "Drag Racings Contact Disagreements Vol 1".
"See all your favorite drives and/or crews participate in contact disagreements. Action packed, up close, with sound! Watch the near misses, slight grazes and full contacts with oohs and ahhs. From pros to sportsman, we've got em all". RAP also has Dirt Track, NASCAR and FORMULA 1 associated videos. Ron Ortiz U/SA 3 easy payments. |
