Todd, I really think that Frank is just busting me. At least I HOPE that he is. He just called a VW on another thread "too cool" and he said that a Dodge (ANY Dodge) makes him "Yac". That alone will get him thrown out of the Mopar Club forever!

Be careful Frank, your punishment might be to build a Neon!

Hoven,
Relax, I'm just having some fun. If someone wants build any Mopar I'm okay with it, as a matter of fact anyone who builds whatever is good by me. The more the merrier.
Happy New Year, let 2021 happen, the sooner the better!

Pour another cocktail. or roll another one, whatever makes you happy, but this forum is us! Class Racing is why we breath.

Some random thoughts here...

I doubt any real hemi racers would try this stunt ..On the other ,hand ,there are some weird guys here who raced Buicks ,Caddys, Omnis ,Escorts...even Corvairs, so ya never know...

Ghetto squad cars... I don't think they'll let you drive one from the back seat floor ;-)

I have a feeling that Chumpski fancies himself as a crew chief or machinist, who's really adept at spending other peoples money on race cars. On his own ,he probably squeaks.. Needs to take a shower in honing oil.

Most folks here have a sense of humor..Some are just not happy unless their expense / possible winnings ratio is about 80 to 1

Kill this thread? What do you expect for the admission price?
If it p*sses off Perrone..Leave it up forever and keep adding to it.

Some need to be reminded..Billy is from Joisey.. It's like another country !

Come to think of it YAC, I believe Chumpski may be the crew chief for Fred Johnston.........

I think that Phish would if he didn't have so many other projects.
It'd be a natural for him. He's got plenty of experience with "ghetto squad cars".

Too many projects is right! No more drag cars.
My parents drove from Grand Lake, La. to San Deigo in a 1928 truck before interstates were built. Dad was a pitcher for the Padres WAY before my time. Post Covid I will attempt the same trip in the same type of truck. Phish

You can build this neon yourself. Sell the cavalier (tell them there is a couple gallons of Sunoco in the tank that will double it's value). If it don't sell take it into Newark (daylight hours only) and knock a couple windows out and leave the keys in it someone will take it.

This would be a great opportunity for you to have the Mopar experience. You could truly have a GREAT New Year!

Yeah, that's not gonna happen BUT I would gladly help anyone in any way that I could if they were inclined to do one.

Not for what I'm trying to do here, gotta be a Neon. But, go for it and build it anyway! It sounds like a good father/son project to me! And do a Build Thread!
That thing could be pretty good in U/SA.

Re: So all of you Mopar guys!

So.......... no takers? I don't get it, are you guys just so jaded that you can't lower yourselves to do a Neon? Are you all just too busy polishing fenders and figuring out your B-J numbers to be bothered? Is it that Mother Mopar doesn't support a "Neon Program" so you can't call and get what you want?
I honestly can't believe that someone won't at least give it a try.
What have you got to lose? The rest of us real Racers can't possibly think any less of you (can a FFFord guy think let alone think any less?) anyway. So what if you fail.
Call me a whatever but please, one of you step up and prove me wrong.
Go ahead, I DARE ya!

I would imagine if the Mopar class money was like it once was several would be right on it. In the words of Archie and Edith" those were the days...."

HEY!
On my Escort , so that I don't have to spend 1500 - 3000 on a custom cam, I got an Uncommon billet cam from England but it doesnt have the cam sensor trigger on it. So I'm going to use an early 1.9L distributor with 3 of the triggers cut off and wire it to the cam sensor plug so that I will still have sequential FI. Does that qualify? :D ;)

I've been looking for a nice puss case that doesn't have serious body rot (you know..."integrity") or trans issues. I looked at two of them this past Saturday. Most of what I am finding has rocker panel delete. I think it will be a fun challenge, and I honestly don't plan on spending more than $1k on the whole thing.

As far as support from the Mothership...there were some Neon books put out in the mid-late 90's. I have found the Mothership of no use though...even having a wide valve cover project myself. Hoping to have that pig out in /EA mid-Summer...

I've got to take a trip to my Buddies junkyard later today. I have to get some pics of his original, unmolested 409 Impala to help another Buddy with his build.
While I'm there I'll see what he's got and what's in-the-wind.
Steve, let me know if I can help you in any way!!! Thanks!

Very popular in the Hornet division at the dirt tracks around here. LKQ usually has several

Lot of them on Copart.com

https://www.copart.com/lotSearchResu...rue&query=neon

If my Artie hadn’t moved out of the area I might have even taken a shot at one. Don’t know that I’ve seen his old Neon Super Stocker out anywhere, love the variety in class racing....

I would like to see a base car done for the simple fact---------- they're simple. Turbos can be fussy. Now understand, I know next to nothing about these things but I do know that they race them on dirt ovals and SCCA stuff so they should be able to be done cheap.
All I'm looking for is for someone to take the time to do the same thing that I did with the Cavalier and what Yac is doing with the Escort. Oh AND do a "Class Build" thread on it.
No major ordeal, no #1 Qualifier, just a simple "anyone could do this for a "Dime" deal.

Next, I've got to try and get one of those FFFord neanderthals to rattle the Tech Depts. cage and get a FFFord FFFocus and a FFFord FFFiesta or two in the guide. Old Escorts are getting to be extinct.

I have an 2010 Focus if it were in the guide....NA 4 cylinder FFFFord

I have decided to give the Neon & Stock Elim a try. I don't have one yet but have my eye on one. A small, relatively slow car fits my racing needs. And it's a Mopar.

Awesome, guy named Kyle Tripp out of D5 made some good runs in his Neon last year. Talked to him briefly last year at Orlando and seemed a nice guy. You might try to contact him and get some insights. And I’m sure Billy will offer his technical assistance which is a great asset to your build. If you have issues finding a donor car up there and spot one here in the south I’d be glad to help by checking it out for you.

I think Kyle has a turbo Omni. Real nice fellow and a great racer.

Mark, the Vignognia family works awfully hard for their money and they go pretty fast.
But Jimi, maybe it's time to do something different, why not try some "slummin'".

I knew that.

My comment was for the benefit of a few who may have forgotten. You race for the same money with a FWD Neon, as you do with an 8 second COPO..
With all of them for sale on R-J, we ought to thank Billy for bringing back a couple of new cars, already..Maybe more ;-)
