Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
Playing that crappy music during downtimes is bad enough, but in between runs while the cars are running is ridiculous. Shaky cameras earlier in the day, power interruptions , poor camera angles, etc.. Renewing next year is becoming less and less of an option for me. NHRA Circus continues (sigh!)

Such a bummer gonna miss Alan

Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
good guy, good announcer but life goes on and the NHRA will continue without him. He announced at some FLINGS in the past, maybe he'll become the official announcer for the FLINGS.

Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
THAT JUST SUCKS! He is amazing at announcing a drag race and understand more about the sport than most of the people who are in charge of the organization! If you cant let him announce on the P.A., you should invite him to the board room. He could get you back in touch with your customers! What a shame to lose Alan Reinhart!

Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
No one likes change but we continued on without Dave McClelland, the Voice of the NHRA, continued on without Bob Frey continued on without Lewis Bloom, the Stat guy and we will do the same without Alan.

Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
Division 7 Champs banquet, I remember Jeff, Darren and I sitting down with Alan for hours talking racing stories and facts. I?ll miss him.
Thank you Alan R for the professionalism and stores as well as the humor. Barry Polley |
Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
More stupidity on the part of NHRA.
|
Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
Maybe so BUT they'll be no shortage of racers lining up at the gate for divisionals to park for 4 days and race for $1,500 and a cheap trophy and no shortage of racers trying to enter national events months in advance before the quotas are met then no shortage of racers complaining that the quotas need to be increased because they didn't get in, so they can park for a week and race for $1,800 and a larger cheap trophy .
Plenty of stupidity to go around! |
Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
He was at Tucson for the hangover nationals being his usual self.
So it looks like we both retired from the NHRA and I wish him the best. As for me I'm going bracket racing and taking care of my wife. I'll miss you guys but you never know when I might show up! Dan Reaume former pit control at NHRA |
Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
So long, Alan. So long, Nhra.tv.

you did, even when you were struggling health issues! Sorry to hear you are going back to bracket racing, you have beaten Jon and I more times than about anyone at LVMS. Your ministry work for RFC has been a blessing and encouragement to our family over the years. Perhaps you will have more time to pursue that calling. Be Well! |

Ed, good to see you actually have not retired from racing (as I had been led to believe), and you will drive. But, Alan was correct on the mic...How in the world do you end up racing your own son first round in a non-laddered Fling bracket race dude? I will need to go back and watch the successive rounds to see if that trailering your own boy early on the day actually paid off for you that day or not. Nice leave , nice wheelie, nice finish...credit where credit is due...But, really poor staging lane strategy (unless that was actually planned out to happen first day of the event I am assuming since it was just a 15K, to get an assurance that at least 1 of the 2 were going to at least advance to the 2nd round and attempt to get a chance to get financially ahead on the week), even then, unless you won on the day (do not know yet that answer), 2 chances are still better than 1 to both advance. You certainly had a great race announcer perplexed. Has your Son forgiven you yet bro? Lol. Gotta love when a good plan turns to schidt. All I can think of based on the results is maybe you were attempting to pen someone you disagreed with prior into racing at least 1 of your Bigly cars and the plan backfired. I just saw something like that happen at Vegas just last Dec. 1 of Spt (I got to lane #2 first, look up and everyone else is in Lan #2 behind me, lane #1 is completely empty. I wait and a guy finally drives around everyone and up next to me. He gets out and then the others all do the lane shuffle over behind him. But, eventually lane master comes over and pulls him out as his .012 light first rnd. qualified him to receive the tentative bye. It made me laugh as Karma came a knockin' and "the best laid plans of mice and men gone awry" visited once again. Lane games rarely benefit anyone, too many variables to consider. As is I attempt to be the first 1 in the lanes if I can, no games to play at my age, let's just get it over with before my "best if used by date" expires. So, if you want a victim (or to become a victim depending on the day), I'll usually be there waiting. More often than not the potential bye pull will really screw with people and any pre- plans. You have got to beat everyone on the day (event), to get in the Winner's circle photograph...at least as a driver. So, do tell us please...bad planning, or bad strategy, or an amazing winner's circle result. Curious folks want to know! |
Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
NM Ed, I found it at 7:31:10 out 3rd rnd after a slight gift in rnd 2. Still good .0 teen lights in both. Love National Trails Raceway. And The FLINGS is the place to be.
Good to hear Alan announcing though eally gonna miss that golden voice at the NHRA. |

Nothing diabolic, nor bad planning, or bad strategy. The Firebird had a mechanical issue that morning, my son stayed at our pit to assist so the car could make the call. We knew once we got to the lanes that it was possible we'd run each other, didn't matter, if so one of us would be buying back in. |

It just wont be the same without his knowledge, wit, humor, and without waking up to Come On Eileen, Wild Wild West, Cover of the Rolling Stone, Hot Rod Lincoln et al…. Kp |

Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
Talked to him a few times, once when he was admiring Jared Jordan?s 64 Dodge at Woodburn (his love for classic muscle is off the charts) and most recently when he gave me a ?bag of donuts? for a perfect light at the Baby Gators class. He really appreciates the sportsman racers and was a great ambassador for NHRA. Hope he prospers going forward.

Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
his knowledge of the stock and super stock cars and classes is amazing.

Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
I hope he writes a book!
Steve , Dave , Bob, Brian, Joe and more. I hope we get to capture the Motorsports knowledge in writings. When Jim McCombe passed, we lost the vast knowledge of the Wests racers. We had many partys where he was the Mcee. What a blast! No I didn’t forget about Unk! Miss ya Bob! |
Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
Jim was a great guy, miss talking with him
|
Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
That didn't take long Alan is now VP at IHRA.
|
Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
Where's Alan? Well he's with IHRA! Another great pick-up by the folks over there. Love to see it
|
Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
Never say never...
Alan will have some followers to the IHRA... he probably knows more than everyone else about the series or he wouldn't have been comfortable going there...We will see! |
Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
good for him, surprised, though we still don't know what events the new and improved IHRA will host in 2025 no mind at what tracks.

Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
I'm going to miss him announcing at the Division races he worked. Was entertaining and knew his stuff. Knew the cars, the racers, the classes, the combos...
Was hoping he would continue to do those, but not going to happen now. With all respect, some of the announcers are less than familiar with what is run at those races. |

Re: Where?s Alan Reinhardt?
Let Alan go, but keep Tony Pendragon? Why? Pendragon talks like no one has ever seen a drag race before in their entire life. I have found myself hitting the mute button on my remote when he starts to babble on, and on, and on about what this particular class is. Almost everyone that watches on T.V. knows what a top Fuel car is, or a Funny Car, or a Pro Stock Car. Alan is informative and entertaining. NHRA was not very bright in their decision in letting him go. Maybe he was sick of NHRA not giving the sportsman racers any air time, especially when there were rain delays, or oil down delays. People don't want to see driver interviews to fill up the dead air time. They want to see racing.
