Re: Going DEEP....

Michael, my pure reaction time is .234. The car roll out is .26, when I see the bottom bulb on I leave, usually will be .000 - .030. This is with Pro or Full. I usually get the .075 trying to hit the pedal hard instead of just reacting and stepping on it.

I probably would be all screwed up deep staging.

U/SA being hard on yourself is not good.

Try hitting a .500 Pro Tree at a test and tune, and you will realize that you are not actually reacting to the 3rd bulb. Even in the Volare, I'm technically not seeing the 3rd bulb. When you can see the full tree, you have a subconscious anticipation of about .03. If I were to block the top two, I wouldn't have a prayer of having a decent light.

Billy Nees is the closest thing to a slow car driver reacting to the 3rd bulb. His physical reaction times are quick as a cat, and he drinks leaded coffee on top of that. But he is FAR from the norm. (Take that how you like it) ;)

Agree with you Michael: Have spent many hours over the years on my practice tree and spent considerable time working with the .500 Pro tree and found I was .003 slower.
My theory is " you know it's coming" which is fine as long as you understand that. This made me train myself to know when i saw the bottom bulb and when I did not to know when the car red lit or I did.

With all we have available to us today there are plenty of ways to get most race cars to hit the tree but it will take work and money, some just don't want to work on their *****.

If the reason for deep staging is to develop consistency hitting the tree teen or better all the time is that really what Foot Brake is all about or needs? We already have Super Pro Dragsters that can be teen or better every run and run the number every run and take the stripe by a few thousandths every run. If that's what you want for Foot Brake fine but what's next when everyone has the same reaction time and can take the stripe by .005? What's fun about Foot Brake is the variables make it a little fast a loose with room for options and to screw it up it's great fun. If the intention is to be a professional bracket racer buy a super pro dragster it's simpler.

For myself when am tired of Stock and if I still want to race will go to Street/Sportsman Eliminator where there really is Pure Foot Brake Racing deep shallow doesn't really matter it's about fun just not much money in it.

Billy is the Man!

My pure reaction time varies depending on how close I am pitted to Mickey Whaley!

Mickey, not you nervous, him. No more jerky to lose, got moss. I get nervous when they spray the track.

Yes! Heaven forbid anyone starts to consistently hit the tree in Footbrake or Stock. The horror! When that happens, I'll quit!

Did I get that right? :D

Mr Ortiz for some reason my reflexes aren't near as good the next day if I hang around too late with Mickey and Dennis, might as well drag him in too.
