From the things I've seen lately IHRA seems to be much more supportive of sportsman racing than NHRA. One of the things holding them back is lack of contingency money. Even though I don't do this for the money it would be nice to get paid a little something when you win a race. Let sponsors know how you feel about this. It could make a difference. I think the lack of contingency has reallly depressed their car counts in the last couple of years.

One other thing we all can do is support our local combo races. For me it's Ohio Valley and Bowling Green. We need to be pro active and make sure there is more than one place for us to race.

I think if more racers supported IHRA (NHRA ) sportsman races that the contengency $$$ would follow. If you were a contengency sponsor ,would'nt you want to see a lot of participants at the races ? Maybe they will step up if we step up ..........I would love to see more cars run with us..

Hey Greg, give the kid a break, he's suppose to be drinking beer, hanging with his buds, sleeping late and chasing girls. Hell thats what college is for. Lighten up a little!

Merry Christmas Pal

I agree. I like running both. Hard to imagine where everybody is at the IHRA races. Same guys I run at NHRA races, just not near all of them. Friendly officials and workers, same rules (SS anyway) the money spends. We talk about it in the lanes, and nobody seems to have an answer. We have a blast, same as at the NHRA races. Seems a tad more laid back. I have small tires, and I can't tell a bit of difference in track prep. I just don't know.

No other or older cars in that class?

If so congrats to IHRA I hadn't seen that....

Mark, in the summer of 2009, IHRA created AA/FI.

7/29/09

Addition to Fuel Injection Classes: AA/FI and AA/FIA are added to the class structure for Stock Eliminator. The 2 classes are reserved for 2008 and later accepted factory muscle cars. No existing FI cars may remove weight and enter this class.

Class Break is 7.50 to 7.99. Class Index is 10.85 1/4 mile and 7.00 1/8 mile.

This was when there were only the 6.1 Hemi DP and the 425 hp blown CJ's. Now, with all the other engines available, maybe there will a BB, CC, DD, etc FI class.

We ran AA/FI at the 2009 IHRA Northern Nationals at Martin, Michigan. We were runner up in Stock. Here is a YouTube video posted by a spectator at the race. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IalhnETZetk

With that many classes avoiding the chances of a heads up looks good.

We plan on being at OV in 2011 with the Pure Stocker and hopefully the C/M car as well.
Too bad BB won't allow IHRA cars tho. :(

Merry Christmas RJ, I'm a little bit sad today after losing our friend Ronnie, but I picked Andrew up at Notre Dame today and brought him home so I'm happy about that. As far as knowing what college is for i'm afraid he's figured it out his first semester.
