Re: LIVE from the Auto Meter Northern Class Nationals!
Michael and the whole gang did a great job! I hope they do it again. My only request is a little closer to D4. Wow 20 hours is a looooooooong way from home. I've already been asked 100 times you gonna put together a Shootout for next year? I'm still licking my wounds from our very poor performance this past weekend. We just stunk the place up big time. We were embarrassed with our performance to be honest about it. We met a ton of great people and had so much help with all our breakage there. Thanks to everyone who "sponsored" me. It really helped. Sorry you had such a bad weekend Ed. Been there. Isn't it great the way racers help each other out. Kudos to all who pitched in.
Congrats to the LooseRocker Crew, all who helped run the show, and the sponsors-absolutely fantastic! Watched a lot on the web, sure hated to miss out. |

How are your injuries Ed? It was heartbreaking to know you towed that far and that had such crappy luck! Scott |
Re: LIVE from the Auto Meter Northern Class Nationals!
Racers represented 24 states plus a boisterous crew from Ontario, Canada. Unsurprisingly, Ohio led with 60 entries, followed by Michigan with 21, and Kentucky with 20. We welcomed racers from Florida, Alabama, Texas, Louisiana, Nevada, South Dakota, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesnowta, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire among many other states. The support from Division 5 was particularly impressive. It was great to put some names with faces, and see a lot of unique, quality machines.
White-Welker & Welker Law Firm posted $100 for the Longest Tow Award. Ed Carpenter from Dripping Springs, TX logged over 2550 miles round trip, arriving at the track in one piece, and arriving back home in one piece, and this true Iron Man of the sport survived all of the pieces in the middle. Honorable mention goes to Paul Wong, who slogged through over 2,000 miles one way from Las Vegas, NV, but is flying home. It was great to have both of these "2,000 Mile Club" members in the house, and wish them safe travels! |
Re: LIVE from the Auto Meter Northern Class Nationals!
Thanks to Michael and everyone for a great race! Way to go Charlie and Bill Sempsrott in the stock final! Also, how about the surprise visit in the winners circle by Pro Stock racer Larry Morgan, talking to and encouraging all the racers. ( I got a selfie ) Bob Michael.

Re: LIVE from the Auto Meter Northern Class Nationals!
I agree with all the compliments and positive input expressed in the previous posts! Flew in from Minnesnowta to watch (car wouldn't fit in the airplane;) Met a bunch of old and new friends, learned some stuff, and totally enjoyed 3 days of Stock and Superstock drag racing without all the unwanted "FUN" one finds with other events. Hope to have more free time next year so the car can come with!
Thank You to everyone involved (racers included) for a great time! Doug and Lydia Jonak |
Re: LIVE from the Auto Meter Northern Class Nationals!
Maybe y'all can help me out with something. I had someone message me, "Great job, with the weather you had to work with." A couple people in the lanes on Sunday commented, "The weather probably kept some people home."
As I looked up into the sky, my question was and is, "What weather?" The weather did almost exactly what it's done for the last 10 years (actually better than several years), which I charted for everyone over a year ago. We told you what to expect, and that's what it did. While we were down for a couple of sprinkles for a few minutes here and there, it was literally from a couple of singular passing clouds -- historically, that's pretty standard. The weather history reports from this weekend show 0.00 from Thursday through Sunday -- nothing measurable! It was cool and windy. It would've been a little nicer if it wasn't so windy, but seriously, overall it was great racing weather. If you could GUARANTEE the weather that we had Thurs-Sun, I would take it every single time! Now if you're looking for a barometer, that you're probably not going to find... :p |
