I even got Brian Wolfe to smile.

Oh, everyone on that side of the barn is pulling a piston.

The only one that seemed to be having trouble getting thru this morning was John Calvert. But it's not over yet.

I wouldn't want to be the poor soul that has to take apart and reassemble one of those 5.4L modular engines. What. A. Mess.

Good luck to those in teardown and in SS class.

The 1964 427 Hi Riser engine has 2.197 intake valves and 1.725 exhaust valves. Does the NHRA (Dave Wren Hemi) rule still say Plus .005 and minus .015 tolerance allowed ?

One of the exhaust valves had a little bit of material pushed up to the edge from pounding on the seat. It was really close to the max. It was clearly evident what had happened. The other three in the head were under the spec. Nothing was bogus. A few swipes with some sandpaper is all it needed. Just thought I'd clear up any rumours. Certainly wasn't a flagrant issue.

Yes, it is still +.005/-.015. The valves were 1.728 when they went in the heads. The one in question had been pretty deep in the seat and pushed an edge up to the margin.
