Why supercede an out of production aluminum manifold for an out of production cast iron manifold?
Are they that bored over there? I could give them plenty to do.

What has me concerned here is NHRA has already approved the LD4B for the 273. They pulled off a sneaky approval recently of the LD340. Using NHRA reasoning(not my reasoning), I don't see why the DP4B wouldn't be approved for the 383 and the CH4B for the 413 and 440. They are in the same parts book with the same "aftermarket" P in the part number.
Now, AFTER they have approved these intakes, why couldn't they approve a "replacement" intake just like the 396/375 deal?
Knowing what I know about the AMC Edelbrock intake, I have to say that based on what NHRA is doing with the Mopar intakes, the AMC intake should be legal. And to go one step further, when will NHRA start approving Edelbrock intakes for all makes based strictly on legal precedence?
We're fast on our way to being ET-2!

Performer RPM should be allowed then, as long as it's painted to match .
C'mon Pontiac guys, jump on board the new NHRA.

Considering the history of similar policy areas that NHRA has moved in, you are describing a very possible set of events and reasoning that will be applied.

As an example, look at this ad in CR Classifieds: http://classracer.com/classforum/showthread.php?t=65307
NHRA should do whatever to keep an "entry level" class from even entertaining rules that would justify a set of $1150 valve lifters.

If they did do ET2 wouldn't it save them a lot of time and money paying tech guys? Could be their new plan, piss everyone off so they quit coming, get rid of those old out of date cars (younger people don't relate to them) so the new boys (cars) can play. It's the "New NHRA". This manifold hits me dead on since I've been building a 70 Duster 340 before the rule changed. I have my engine parts and do not want to start over this late in the game.

I decided to submit an Ed Winfield carb as a replacement for a 170 CID Slant Six. Any complaints? [sarcasm] Just joking. Talk about a non-available part.

I have a one barrel from an inline Gray Marine (Chrysler Marine) from 54, I think it was the predecessor to the 170 Carb. It's legal. I also got a giant one barrel from a Red Diamond 450 heavy truck motor. Sorta like a bucket with a flap. Good for 1/8 mile racing, can't make 1/4 before out of gas. Just trying to help my racing buddies.

Guess the new intake doesn't work to bad. I'm reading about the first 9 sec pass by a D/SA. Coupled with some replacement aluminum heads, that sounds like an unbeatable combo. Hats off to the guys that got it approved and put it into action.
