Smitty, Rusty is right, Turbo Action is one of our (SSSSA) best sponsors. I have used Paul's stuff for 30 years. Jacksonville isn't far and he can get you in and out pronto. Jim

Take this for what you want 'cuz I personally have never spent a dollar on a convertor being that I'm a 4 speed guy. But I do know this. If Billy Glidden uses or recommends someone its for a reason and Billy and Kenny Compton used Lenny at UCC for Kenny's NMCA Pro Stock car and won the majority of the races and the championship a couple years ago if I recall. Just my .02

I like dealing with David Swimm at Atlantic Coast Converters in Conway S.C. They are great to deal with and they will repair any converter or build you one. Family owned and operated.

No I am not doing a freshen up on my engine over the winter. It doesen't have very many runs on it yet. I am updating the brakes from drums to disc. I was having trouble getting stopped at some of the short tracks. I just didnt trust those old brakes anymore. Plus I need to get some weight out of the car. I was about 70 lbs heavy for SSIA. Then I also need a looser converter. Mine only stalls to about 5500 with the 327. The converter I have is for a 350. I hope to see you at the races after the first of the year.

Happy New Year Mike, we got the trans apart and ave parts on order, hopefully they will be here Monday then we will get it back together. We are going to try it out with the fresh trans first to see if this was the problem, as I said the convertor would go to 6200 so it's fairly close. I have a lot of guys haelping me so hopefully I can attend a few races and actually run with you guys this year.
I really appreciate everyones comments on this subject, looking forward to seeing all of you at Bradenton.

I agree with Jerry Maxwell, my vote goes to A1.

I'm running the same convertor that was built for my fwd cavalier (an 8" 3600 stahl speed non-lock-up unit), back in 1996! Other than loosening it in 1998, I haven't had to touch it since then, and once I moved down here to the lower altitudes of Div. 7 from the nose bleed section of Div 5, I've actually had stahls to 3900 rpm.'s! I don't stahl my convertor anymore, but it's still the same one!

My car may not be a super stocker, but whether your car is a super stocker , or a stocker A1 has rulled the west (and the high country of Division 5), and if I'm not mistaken even Charlie and Jeff Taylor used A1 convertors in their former Camaros as well as Jeff's newer cars, and they were racing in the southeast where three of the most well known convertor makers call home..TCI, Turbo Action, and ATI???

I still run a B&M 069j from 30 years ago.....send it to Paul at Turbo action at the end of every season and get excellent service....and it still works great!

I met David Swimm at Atlantic Coast Converters in Conway S.C at a race at Darlington, SC a year or so ago they had a pretty stout Super Stock 400 Pontiac there. Talked with them and they said they moved here from up north, they are nice people to talk with. I can't speak for their product but it worked very well in their car and you could not find nicer people to talk to. Don Jackson
