I bought a Bllack/Black 69 Nova with the L89 engine ,4 speed, 488 rear NO radio nothing NO extras plain jane button hub caps NO SS pkg new for if I remember right about $2900 + tax and my brother bought a 69 Chevelle 300 deluxe 2 dr sedan same way for about the same $$$--He sold that car in 1999 for $20,000-- I sold my car to a racer from Alabama in 1995 for $18000 and a 89 Caprice--Mine had 7000 yep 7 Thousand miles on it never saw rain or snow sat inside all winter in a heated garage--Not a mark on it looked like it just left the dealer---Wish I still had that car bought an apartment building with the money--Comp 387

They state the cars being initially detuned and they will be available soon with a pro-shifted trans by Liberty. Wow.

Was your brother's car Hugger Orange? If so, it's close to being my all-time dream musclecar. I saw the car right about the time you said your brother sold it.

Another poster mentioned the delayed model introduction due to the strike, and that's what I had always heard. But recently, I came across something stating that the delay was actually corporate politics (and CYA) trying to cover up a huge mistake made by Fisher Body.

The story said that the car design was approved by everyone but when it came time to actually stamp out some of the severe contours of the body (I'm thinking of the tight curve around the headlight, for instance) that Fisher Body found that their calculations were off and there were either big wrinkles or torn metal when they tried to actually produce the parts. According to the story I saw, the delay was actually due to a frantic re-design and apparently caused some shortened careers at GM.

Dan--That could have been my Bro car---Will look for /post pics of it somewhere ---Also my L89 Nova would run street tires thru the mufflers air cleaner on etc.. Mid 11.60s at 114MPH--put a set of M&H xs -11 slicks on it, rejet the carb ,set the valves ,bump the timing ,take the mufflers off and run 11.18 at 119MPH---Then I put a 430 BBC chevy in it ran 10.70 at 123/124---Still have the 430 ----gonna put it in a street car for grins--Comp387

FECARMAN---You seem to have some inside info on these cars/program coupla ??? all of the parts on the new CJ are they interchangeable with vehicles currently on the street or are you locked in whereas you hafta buy parts from Ford ??? I mean will the S'charger or heads ,blocks etc work with something a racer might already have or do you have to get a say A block, Set of heads, Intake, etc. to complete the package--Thanx in advance for your response

That video is from November when Bob and Billy Glidden driove the cars at the Street Car Supernationals at LVMS. I've since seen a video (but can't find it any more) from Liberty showing them modifying the factory Mustang six speed for those cars. I have no idea how many gears it uses as I couldn't play the whole video at the time.

By the way... after reading the long Chevy "hijack" can't a Motion car be applied for inclusion in Stock and SS? I thought the NHRA ruling on the Cobra Jets and Challengers paved the way for that.

Y'know a Motion 454 Vega with a Tunnel rammed LS7 might stand a chance against Fords! :)
