I know that some of you guys enjoy bashing on the sport compacts as "kids" "punks" and falling into the stereotypes of NOPI, bikini contest ect. For myself and 90 percent of the racers who competed in NOPI race classes that kind of stuff was annoying beyond belief since it portrayed the racers in a way that was completely wrong.

I must disagree with you, there are plenty of import racers like my self that run "Street Stock" which is very close in nature to SS, no swaps, oem trans/motors, but more lenient on the some of the rules. Right now there is no place for us street cars to cross over, after about a half a dozen emails and no one from NHRA could give me a straight answer what class my car would fit into, and what rules I would have to meet.

Without a turbo you can probably run SS/GS or if it's all out SS/EX (very stiff index) If it's turbo you have a class in comp that was set up for the hotrod class cars.
One thing you have to adjust your car to fit the class, they are not going to adjust a class to fit a car.

I was more talking about true street cars, SS/EX are practically FWD pro stock cars on meth. I can race at 15 events in the mid atlantic area with my car the way it sits, I would love to cross over and race at NHRA if there was a index class outside of the SS/EX. There is a place and index for allot domestic FWD street cars like neons ect, I would like to see the same for import sport compacts. Per reading through this forum and the rule book my cars oem power weight 2100/110 I would fall into SS/GS with 14.30 index. If I could run this index I would make the changes needed to comply with every rule to race.

Come on in the more the merrier. Actually the more cars the less chance nhra will do away with us.
For years there were 2 FWD SS classes I told a lot of people about them (wanted to build a car for son or daughter). But nobody listened. So I decided to do it myself. Now that theres only 1 class we are starting to see some action.
PS the index will probably more a bit in the next year or so.

Your memory is deceiving you... Hitler had a lot to do with creating the Volkswagen and German race cars kicked everybody back then.

As for Pearl Harbor that was as much the US governments doing as the Japanese.

I never suggested that Scott had a swastika tattoo or bombed Pearl Harbor (I don't know what you're eating/drinking, but I don't want any..lol), however the corporate leaders of the company that created the car he's racing probably did (at least the Pearl Harbor part). You're being a bit harsh calling his car a "riceburner", and I applaud it for running a nine-second pass, however I'm looking forward to seeing how it fares out running against any of the perrenial top-20 Super Stock racers when the car is going to have to be as consistent as Scotts rt's are good in order to beat the Fletchers, Biondo's, Langs, DeFranks, et.al.....

Perhaps Hitler had a lot to do with Volkswagen, but as far as that German race cars kicking everybody back then....maybe on European soil, but I bet Victor Edelbrock Sr., (amongst others), had something to say about that over here in American soil???

As for Pearl Harbor, the Japanese didn't have to do their cowardly deed, and I hope reality was like the movie with Ben Afleck, and Cuba Gooding Jr. where a warship gunner, and an American fighter pilot were able to gun down some of those bastards that attacked Pearl Harbor!!!

Sean, in as much as I refuse to take back any of the stuff I said in this thread (because the car magazines seem to be madly in love with the Toyota's and Honda's of the world, and praise them as if they were GOD's gift to the automotive world), I too thank you Scott for coming out and playing with us. I hope I get a chance to meet you out here in Arizona, at the Lucas Oil Drag Race Series event(s) either in Chandler, or in Tucson. My budget hasn't been kind to me (because of our great economy of late), so racing both of them is a question mark, but I hope to be at Firebird (since it's closest to home)?

I just hope that more of those cars can come out here, because (like someone else said here), the more the merrier!!!

One more thing, I had to send corporate spec info on my Z24 to NHRA back in the 90's for it to be accepted into Stock, so that's what those who wish to run Stock Eliminator (with their sport compacts) need to do as well...imagine the thought of my '86 Z24 running for DF/S class out here against an Acura Integra...I can only dream......
