The Drag-Pak motor is a lone TB on a single plane intake (albeit a tall one).

From what I gather, Duell doesn't plan on running that car exclusively as a Stocker. The motor that is in the build pics of that car has to be for some other class.

The 2 TB motor was for exhibition/brackets only and was built before the Challenger was accepted by the NHRA.

Don,
No argument about the soft combos, all makes have some, even Pontiacs. There wont be that many of those cars. I just think NHRA is missing the boat by not showcasing these cars with their own class. Your choice on the whine as long as its Ripple or Thunderbird.

As tricky Dick Nixon always said " let me make it perfectly clear" ..... Don you should like that, being the political guru that you are. If Nhra let the new Chevy Camaro use a fiberglass/scoop hood complete with Dutz fasteners, a 502 crate motor complete with ram intake and rated it at 425( sounds like a good round number). The same thing as the new Challenger, I would say the same thing about the Chevy. In fact that would make a super interesting class to watch and race against, but they are crate motor cars. Put them in there own class and run'em in stock and SS and sort them out there. I don't even own a car, so I'm just calling it as I see ( and I've seen for 45 years now). How old does that make me anyway? I must have gotten a bit of heat stroke at Indy today. Keith

My question is since the drag pack cars haven't all been built yet that technically makes them ineligible for competition yet right?....I think that is why Doug Duell has the Challenger he is driving...it isn't a package car just a "normal" production car it has to have either the regular 5.7 or 6.1 SRT Hemi in it without the special "drag pack" engine parts....it will be interesting to see how things progress with these things.....

Doug has two engines, both built by INDY. One is a bracket only engine, the other is a stocker built to the specs that NHRA provided. Doug is a very good friend of mine, and I new that this car would get everyone talking. That is good for the sport and the class.
I agree with some on here that these new factory cars, mustang, challenger, and camaro...if chevy ever gets it done, deserve to have their own class in stock. They draw interest, and that doesn't hurt. However, I have never agreed with NHRA and their decision to put fuel injected/computer cars in with conventional stockers. These new cars should have their own class, like AA/FI or A/FI.
Doug's car isn't a body in white factory drag pack car. It is a clone, just like probably 90 percent of the other A/SA cars, including mine. That doesn't make his car bogus or a crate motor car. It was built, inspected and okayed for and by the NHRA guys. They have been aware and on this car since before the PRI show this past winter. Kudo's for Doug for beating everyone else to the track. He followed the rules he was given and beat everyone to the punch.
Try to take it easy on him, he is a good guy and a great ambassedor for our sport.

1320 / 130.68 = 10.10.101
Actual ET was 10.192
Difference = .091

I'd say for a brand new car that is DAMN good and shows he's a real racer for keeping it WOT all the way down the track as his 1/8 & 1/4 MPH are also in line.
