Re: NHRA Confirms Kurt Busch Entry
IMHO the rule should be changed to allow competitors with a grade of 0 to get into an event that isn't filled a week before the event. It baffles me that NHRA wouldn't want to take somebody's money.
In the end, to NHRA for allowing this to take place with the way the rules currently read. If any other non-celebrity / current sportsman racer tried to enter, NHRA would tell them to hit the road. NHRA is doing this simply to benefit themselves, and I completely agree that this won't bring any real additional medial coverage to sportsman racing or S/G. It will to Kurt Busch, it will to NHRA, it will to NASCAR, it has to Roy Hill, it will to whoever beats Kurt Busch first round, but that's it. And once this circus act is finished, S/G and the rest of NHRA sportsman racing will go back into virtual obscurity. And I don't agree with the double-entry fee thing either. If the field isn't full, it isn't full. NHRA is already going to hit you with a late entry fine. Let people with a grade of 0 in if they can arrange to get to that race within the week of registering. Boo NHRA....Boo, liar liar, boooooooo...... |
Re: NHRA Confirms Kurt Busch Entry
I wouldn't worry about Kurt's engine making more than 1 or 2 wot passes anyway.

Re: NHRA Confirms Kurt Busch Entry
Looks like Busch will be heading to Gainesville with momentum on his side, after his win at Atlanta this weekend. (My bad! that was NASCAR) LOL

Kurt Busch wins at Atlanta!

Re: NHRA Confirms Kurt Busch Entry
His plans for next weekend was mentioned a few times during the race today that I caught - didn't watch every lap. I would be interested to see ratings for the Gainesville event. Those who tune in to see Kurt race might be dissappointed. Or not - it might end up being the Kurt Busch show. We shall see . . .
As for rules, I expect fairness and this can't be considered fair. I can understand why they are letting him in, but for those who are trying to enter with zero grand points, they would be remiss to not mention this in their arguments. Maybe this will get the 0 grade point rule changed? I cannot understand why NHRA would walk away from any penny potentially left on the table, and this would give them a good out to change the rule and get more money. |
Re: NHRA Confirms Kurt Busch Entry
Well, Kurt will be coming to Gainesville w/a fresh win under his belt from Atlanta Nascar cup race earlier today. Is a T-stop mandatory in Super Gas class? Thanks. WJ

Re: NHRA Confirms Kurt Busch Entry
Kurt's car WAS at the Div. 2 race in Atlanta this past weekend. Did they buy an entry, tech it in for a grade point, and leave? Super Gas doesn't qualify so does it need to make a run to get a grade point? Or they could have been getting the chassis certified.

Re: NHRA Confirms Kurt Busch Entry
All that's needed to get a grade point is to pass tech!
My stocker was used to get grade points by people a couple of times and it never left the pit area! |
