Very interesting. Not necessarily all active racers here ,but 3 to 1 for class winners?
It begs the question; Why didn't NHRA do a poll before changing a 50 year policy?

srac did not vote to do this... the $$$$ did it ... i might even guess they knew the underfactored CJ & DP were coming and wanted to be sure they all got into the show ???

as far as a flagman and a 450' head start id like to try it just once for the hell of it !!!!
i can probably cut a better flag than a tree...and the flagman is gonna be WAY away from that aa/s CJ hope he' got 20-20 vision !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jack - the underfactored cars would get in with either system being at the top of the qualifying sheet. The whining was from the .9-1.0 under cars that were getting bumped. Their rationale is that they were getting bumped by cars winning class singles and going fast enough to get the win (-0.5) but not fast enough to make the top 128. This basis many at the time agreed with (as polled on here). The ones that suffered were the classes where no one can run more than 1-under so you could have multiple cars in a class and none of them including the class winner make the field of 128 becuase they aren't fast enough. Making this added means of limiting the number of classes that can make the field for eliminations helps increase the possibility that the classes with more cars and better factors will end up with heads up runs in eliminations - something people were asking for (also previously popular on here).

tim if 128 CJ & DP (it may happen in 2011) show up then 40 of them would get ousted by class winners ... right ?

just making a point... wally always wanted EVERY class to be represnted in the eliminator... therefore the rule was "field will be comprised of the class winners and then filled to (64) 128 with the fastest qaulifiers against thier index not winning thier respective class."

How about class winners plus fastest qualifiers with no breakout first to the finish line for class and qualifying. That alone would speed up factoring. No bagging, you lift and your gone. They could put the pinks crew in charge of qualifying. They can spot a bagger a 1/4 mile away.
