Re: Racing at Indy?

Post on Drag Race Central indicates fields are set & no addt'l entries permitted. For those racers who elected to follow the weather forecast (<10% chance of running event) we will not be welcomed to the NHRA D3 event at Indy in May. In this environment of very challenging economic conditions, everyone is doing their best to make discretionary spending count.

For a sanctioning body of this caliber it appears counterproductive to push racers away and perhaps, requests to accept all racers would be given due consideration.
Please join others in directing calls to Div 3, Glendora, & Mr. Lucas.

This sounds like all the other bitching about IHRA and thier TOC race......LOL. How does it feel when the shoe is on the other associations foot.

Re: Racing at Indy?

I lost track of how many races IHRA postponed last year because of forecasted poor weather, at least they were trying to do the right thing for the racers...the TOC deal was kinda unique given the time of year and all. In any case I elected not to drive 1600 miles round trip to run my stocker at Indy because of the forecast and by them closing the field they have essentially said they don't want my business...

We also agree 100%. Super Stock never even got on the track, and NO ONE started eliminations. Why should the fields be closed?? Please make your opinion known to NHRA.

It just keeps diluting the racing to more and more possible classes, with fewer and fewer competitors each.... eliminator. Closer and Closer to ALL RUN type event... if the numbers drop watch for BRACKET cars to fill the schedule(PITS) and maintain the entry money.

Those are belt sanders according to O'Malley.

Re: Racing at Indy?

There were about half the number of racers at Indy this weekend as would normally show up.
I don't understand why you would close the fields and lose the potential money they could generate in new entries. Makes no sense.

Watch for the entry fees to go up soon to make up the difference in lost revenue at Indy!!!!!!

Re: Racing at Indy?

The answer is obvious to me. Jay Hullinger and NHRA Division 3 has all the money they want! Why else would you close the fields with such a poor turnout. OMG Super Stock didn't even go down the track. This makes no good sense.
