Spokane Car Counts...
Some D6 & D5 car counts can be low when compared to some of the other divisions, (like D1), but I think this Spokane race must take the cake for setting an all time low!
(hell, there were more cars than this even at the Acton (MT) points races, thanks to the D5 racers that would show up and support that event). So I'm curious.... D6 racers.... Is it the location, Spokane being to far away from the I-5 corridor? Is it the time of the year (July / Aug. in Spokane can be real hot and uncomfortable)? or Is it truly the economy, keeping folks away? I snagged these numbers from dragracecentral.com STK = 31 SS = 17 Comp = 9 T/AD = 4 TA/FC = 3 (+1 DQ) |

Re: Live From The Spokane LODRS
Good morning. We had a thunderstorm come through here early this morning about 4:30AM. It rained and the wind blew pretty good. It has rained off and on since then. Last time it rained was about 45 minutes ago. The ground is wet, but if it doesn't rain anymore I think the track will be dry by noon. It's cloudy and overcast right now. Temps are supposed to get up to the mid 80s today.
I brought my street tires for the front in case we were parked in the area with goat heads. I'm going to put them on anyway and see if I can pick my lights up a bit. The street tires are 4 inches shorter. If I remember right they picked my lights up about .015 to .020 last time I tested them. My lights this weekend have ranged from .026 to .032. That way I can come down on the stall to adjust my lights rather than bumping in. More later ... -Toby |
Re: Live From The Spokane LODRS
It started to sprinkle again about 10 minutes ago. It's barely coming down now. I got my "pro light" tires on without getting too wet though. Hopefully it won't rain anymore.

Re: Live From The Spokane LODRS
The sun has made an appearance. It's behind a cloud right now, but they have just called Super Stock and Super Street to the lanes. We should be running here shortly.

Re: Live From The Spokane LODRS
Stock and Super Stock have completed their first qualifying pass of the day. There are clouds all around and it sure feels like rain, it said 68% humidity when I made my run, but it hasn't started raining yet.
The "pro light" tires did as expected. I got a .009 light. That was at about 3250 RPMs. I will try the next pass at 3000 or 3100 and see what happens. It looks like 3 more Stockers showed up this morning. Norm Webber, Bill Bushmaker and Andrew Wiebe. I was able to get quite a few pictures. I will post them when I get a chance. -Toby |
Re: Live From The Spokane LODRS
As I thought, is has started to sprinkle. We will be on hold for a little bit.

Re: Live From The Spokane LODRS
It's raining quite a bit harder now. They have sent the cars in the lanes back to the pits. It will be a while before they start running again.

However they aren't racing STK - SS - Comp and/or the Alcohol cars at Medicine Hat, so I'm still curious as to why the D6 Class Racers have chosen not to go to Spokane? |
Re: Live From The Spokane LODRS
They are running cars down the track again.
