Re: Smothers Brothers cars?

The 69 Smothers Brothers car (red one with yellow stripes - Kings Olds W31 convertible ) was the first year of SB.

Year 2 was a 70 Olds pure white hard top because Dick and Tom had to pull Logos off car bc of problems on TV. This is what ended the program.

1971 - received a brand new car from Dale Smith at Olds. This was a factory backed car. This is what started the fish scale paint job. Dad actually painted this car and used one piece of cardboard at a time to make the paint job - at this point it was still running in Stock
End of 71 Season instead of sending new car, they sent a conversion package to Dad. This turned this car into a Super Stock / O car
for the 72 season

At the end of 72 season, this is when Dad sold this car to Buddy.
He then went on into the Super Modified Division with the 67 Camaro.

We still have the 71 hood for the fish scale car. As well as having the 69 convertible.

Interesting story on the paint. That white 71 is the car later raced by Buddy Ingersoll?
I had to think for a minute and then I figured out the cars you were talking about.

Buddy made the long haul out here to Seattle in '76. Wayne County Speed Shop is on the quarterpanels.
