Re: Nhra reinstates Sportsman oildown penalties
Be very afraid!!!!
Last time NHRA had the fines my buddy had a fitting loose on the cooling system and was shut off between the water box and the starting line. He left a few drops and a spot where they stopped him and shut him off that was no bigger than a coffee can. It was cleaned up with a mop only and I ran right behind him so I saw exactly what happened. He was fined for that. He questioned it as it did not take any cleanup equipment other than a mop and it was not at the starting line or past it. No Luck!!! He had to pay or not register at any other race until he did as per the letter he received. This is the same old story NHRA need cash and the sportsman categories are a cash cow that they are milking until it runs dry. NHRA does not want the Sportsman Categories at the National Events and this is an attempt to thin the herd and make some money in the process. Retirement from this mess is looking better all the time. I do not need the hassles. Remember NHRA stands for No Happy Racers Allowed. I wonder if NHRA would accept the assignment of the Contingency Payments that I am still owed for the fine? Might be a way for NHRA to finally collect what I am owed. My 2 Cents Rick Cates |

I don't plan on racing at too many Nationals so this is not too big of a concern of mine. I think sportsman racers that get fined are in the small minority. |

Should have a schedule very shortly....Lucky, Tom and I are still hitting our heads against the walls! As far as the oildown penalties......you almost have to say "BOHICA" - Bend Over Here it Comes Again!! RK 1198 S/G |
Re: Nhra reinstates Sportsman oildown penalties
Based on our past ... the freebie means nobody in my family would have ever been fined a dime from 1999-2010.
The new oildown fee could cost Terry Haddock $30,000 this year! Every time I hear Danny Northrop yell POW, I don't know if he's telling me to hit the tree harder or if he's doin a Terry Haddock impression :) |

Over the years there have been a number of Fuel racers that fit that image. And some went on to stardom.....John Force is one that comes to mind.....there were others that were much more spectacular but I am not naming names..... |

Re: Nhra reinstates Sportsman oildown penalties
The oil down rule should apply for the classes that are getting into a national event WITHOUT PAYING!
TF, FC, PS, TAD, TAFC Why do the people who create the least amount of problems, get the least amount of recognition, and are classified (at nationals) as "FILLER" get wrapped into the same category as TAD, and TAFC. I say Leave Stock, Super Stock, Super Street, Super Gas, and Super Comp out of this oil down rule, we pay more than anyone else just to show up, why should we get threatened incase we have our cars break! |
