Mark, there were some guys welding up the pushrod sides of their rockers and no one in tech had issues with that. The rocker had to stand a lot of heat in that process. The problem seemed to be that if the rocker got too brittle, it would break anyway.

Jim, I was just wondering when it became legal to weld or customize stock rockers??
When we went to Indy in '04 with the 350 Buick, I had already split a couple of rockers at the shaft hole. I wonder how long we would have lasted in teardown if I had welded a bridge piece across the top of my rockers to strengthen them up?

Let's do a poll:

5 seconds

10 seconds

15 seconds

Mark, who knows? All I know is that there are many things out there that are in now and no one knows why.....:)

Terry, No one knows that more than me and I hate that it has come to this. All my stump pullers still use 130 seat and 330 open, the extra rpm these spring pressures allow are no advantage to me. On the other hand if I don't play by the new rediculous rules the L88 would be left way behind.--------Danny

Those $279 Crane Gold rockers for Stock don't sound so bad against a $900 set of stamped rockers now do they? :D

The rule book says rocker arms can not be modified. I asked Wesley if I could modify mine so they wouldn't split and he said "no".

The design is a nice fit, with an oiling hole that aligns with the hole in the rocker. I doubt you could do these yourself for the money, unless you could design them and had a cnc machine capable of making the inserts and did not count your time. I just got mine back from being upgraded, Clark is great to do business with and IMO his stuff is top notch. The Stud and adjusters he makes to use with these rockers are beautiful, sure they cost $$ but for a limited specialty product worth it....they are also legal as purchased from Clark.....
my 2 cents...

It sounds like the difference between the west coast rule book and the east coast rule book. Is it legal to do this or not ? Travis????????
