These guys rock. They are doing what we almost take for granted in countries where parts and skills to do it are almost non existant. Great job! I would love to know what the weather and the D/A was there. Plus does anyone know what motor is in Hakan Nordstrom's cuda? 9.87 @ 134 is a pretty good shot for a "real" car. I need one of those "SSSSA" stickers just to confuse people here :)

Yea, that is what really impressed me..I have never been there, but based on what I have heard, there are not a lot of old school american rides there, and for them to be building stockers and SS out of them is amazing..You are right Aspen..They Rock. And running some damn good numbers too. They take a lot of pride in what they are doing. I heard one of them has a DP in the works.

Here is some in-car videos from this race I got from my friend Hank Nordstrom who races a AA/SA HemiCuda, it is the former Dave Schmitz B/SA. He said they had a 30.3 barometer that day, but in Sweden 30.3 is probably just a bit above average!
I liked the third one where the driver waved goodbye to his competition as he blew by at about 1100'.

Re: Tierp Arena Sweden

I sold that car to Hank in November of 2005. Hank didn't want the Six Pack motor that was in it because he was having a hemi stocker built by another engine builder who shall go unnamed. Hank sold the Six Pack motor to Uffe Edwardson whose car is the first one you see on the video. Uffe has been the #1 qualifier at almost every race he has entered since 2006. I believe his best time is 10.21 @129.46 in B/SA. He also bought my back up motor which was in the car for this race. His best time at Tierp was 10.24 at 128.86 and he was the #1 qualifier again. After Hank's first hemi motor turned out to be a terrible mess, Don Little and I collaborated on another complete motor from carburetors to pan. Hank has completely redone the whole car since I had it with way more attention to detail than I ever did. Don and I work with both Hank and Uffe and I am really proud of both guys.
Regarding the barometer, what they had at Tierp was the best they have ever seen. The normal barometer is usually high 28's to mid 29. You would think it would be better than that, but such has not been the case.
Hank is currently the fastest stocker in Europe. I told him to enjoy it while he can because the Mustangs and the DP cars will be there shortly.
I sure miss my old car and the good times I had, but I know it is in good hands.

These carpets was a part of a sponsor deal the Swedish Stock/Superstock Assn. had with a flooring manufacturer a couple of years ago, and was handed out to the teams for free.. Maybe not this time, at this provisional sportsman pit at Tierp, but we try to organize cars, etc. in the pit, to not be just a pit area, but a little like a car exhibition, and the carpets contribute to that.

The barometer is not the only thing we have against us over here, there is also a ban within the European Union against leaded fuel. Most of us use Motorsport 109, CSP, etc. and it makes it hard to get the numbers you see.

Driver waving goodbye is Tarmo Mikkola, event winner and Nordic Drag Racing Series winner 2010. The driver he is waving to is 18 year old, 2010 Swedish S/SS champion, Daniel Nyling. The kid is more or less raised in a Junior dragster, and has by that a lot of routine. We old farts all wave and cheer if we manage to eliminate him...:D
