Re: Who is going to Mission??
Well,, after a late start, about 12:45pm today, most everyone got 1 hit in, and just when the second session of Stock was in the lanes, between 4:30 and 5:00, all hail broke loose, followed by the big downpour that sent everybody back to their trailers.
It was nice catching up with some of you,, I had to head back home as I've got other commitments this weekend,, good luck guys. Rory,,sorry to hear you can't come down next weekend to Bremerton. Dion,, good to see you again.. Bob G.,, I love watching that stick car. "West coast",, it was nice meeting you also. Danny Durham |
Re: Who is going to Mission??
Saw racin' today so i'm happy. The numbers on the qualifying sheets don't tell much of the story though. The guys near the bottom of the pack, like Jr. Cour and Sorensen made great runs at least part way down the track. In Cours case the tires spin but he kept with it and lifted early. Looked like it would have run 9.7 even with the spin. Isherwoods slow ET was a giant wheelie heading towards the wall. In Comp Jirka Kaplan was on a major pass but the blower belt departed about 330 ft mark and was laying on the track by 500ft.
Not many cars and the spectators .could have all carpooled in one van. Hopefully more tomorrow. |
Re: Who is going to Mission??
I was there today twice, first time i got to the gate and it was raining pretty good so i turned around and went to the swap meet, came back later and it appeared plenty dry but they were scraping the track and expected to be a couple more hours (at 1pm) so back to the swap meet. Then home. I see on DRC they ran Comp and Alky and SS... wow, Isherwood has that big ol' Belvedere flying, 9.23 ?? Amazing if so.
I see Mike Nottingham is shown as a 9.65 in SS/EA, he went 9.70 yesterday but the run was disallowed because the tech card had SS/ but not EA on it. I have no idea if there is another chance to back up that as a record this evening. Also no idea what is happening in Stock since they show Rd2 yet from the sounds of things only a few went down yesterday before the rain and it doesn't appear they've run the others today. Nice and sunny here 45 miles west of the track. |

I have no idea if there is another chance to back up that as a record this evening. Isherwood had a pretty good scare first qualifying run this afternoon. There was a lot of track cleaning and drying but apparently not enough. After his usual large wheelie and coming down near the center line he got the car gong straight only to end up sideways about 1/2 track due to water under the surface. They scraped and dried some more and he got another hit. SS/DA 66 Hemi Belvedere did in fact run a 9.23. May have video in a few days of both runs. Mike Nottingham in his SS/EA 67 Fairlane was just completing tear down tech and will try to better his 9.65 tomorrow morning for the SS/EA record. |
