I think Carroll Caudle might be my choice. Sure could make the small cube engines sing.

Re: Who had the most successful Modified Production car?
I think it was Indy he won against Dick Landy's Hemi Dart in the final, Carroll in C/MP, and Landy in B/MP. They ran about the same MPH. Landy's Hemi couldn't pull on Carroll's 331" sbc in high gear. National Dragster called it his flying shoe box (1955 Chevy Belair 2dr hard top)
Gwenda's (his wife) office desk had one of those spikes for receipts, etc, it was filled about half way up with national record certificates. This was about 1972? All that with T10 trannys & '57 Pontiac rear ends, Lakewood traction bars, 90/10 front shocks, and 7" Firestones on 4" wheels. lol Trying to close his shop down and retire right now. Anybody need a nice building with machine shop, dyno, and mechanic's shop in downtown Amarillo Texas? |
