I think that what this will lead to is safety requirements equal to what the fast cars have. Let's face it, if one of these cars loses control at 150 MPH and crosses into your lane it could spell diaster, especially for one of the slower cars that require only a minimum amount of safety equipment.

Mike,

I know I shouldn't post this because it would "make sense", but if that were the case, it would be nice to let us know soon so that updates can be planned and taken care of.

I've long said that safety requirements should be based on the ET/MPH, and chassis construction of the vehicle. (and potentially that of the other cars in the class). Setting safety rules by class designation makes no sense. I drove one Super Stocker that had a different set of safety rules depending on what stickers were on the windows.

I ran the Turismo at a big money Box race this year, and drew a Top Sportsman car first round. I broke out .001, then looked up to see the guy sideways in front of me in my lane. Had he lost it behind me instead of beside/after me, it would've been ugly. They're never really beside you... they're either 400' behind you or 400' in front of you. THROUGH you... not so good.

Mike is right about this. Fast cars on small tires is not new, just new to NHRA. Stiffer requirements on cages, safety gear etc are on the horizon.

....and that's why my former V/SA ride carried "unnecessary" roll bar and frame connectors - just in case.

They will be capable of going real fast this weekend with a lighter car

:-) peace

I've been trying to tell you guys it is not that simple but no one would listen.
The 2010 CJ stocker has an iron block and the 2012 is aluminum. So it's not quite as easy as some of you think. No "voila" here.

See you at the races,

What about the new rule that you can run any block from the approved list? I believe there are a few LS1's out there that have gone to a steel block.

Bo's car is already to run tomorrow in the Stk/SS combo race

Mike,

I posted this exact same thing earlier in the year and was flamed for it. Many people don't want to think about what could happen. Many people are from the "I see nothing and I hear nothing-therefore I know nothing".
