I've never understood that either, it happened to the Lt1's a couple of years back as well, they are both 'sports' bodied cars with the exact same engine. I can understand the difference in bodies from a sports car to a wagon, that ones obvious.

Wheelbase, engine setback, overall weight distribution. VERY different cars

Mike, It's called the Al Corda rule! ( otherwise known as; smarter than most ) It's kinda like being Tax Exempt. You just have to live with it. JB

OK Chad,
Wheelbase is roughly 5" shorter on a vette, the engine, as far as i know, is the same to the front axle spindle, don't know specifically the weight distribution difference, what is it and how can ya say that the vettes are at a disadvantage to the camaro's and firebirds in these areas?????

I wish I knew, please help! I fail to see how they are, as you say VERY different. They probably have a better aero package as well!

How do ya suppose that the ram air didn't get it as well? What am I missing?

I am pretty sure that IHRA rates both the ram air hood and flat hood the same, but NHRA doesn't?

Sorry Dave, didn't mean it that way. They had the triggers but I guess the average must have been lower than required to get hit, I just can't recall to many slow ones out there!

Travis, can you help here? That's a whopping 13hp difference!!???

I agree. There were plenty of fast ones! Several more than the flat hood.

Also, NHRA doesn't give a dam about the 13hp difference. Look at the 345 Drag Pack. There is a 96hp difference between the stick and the automatic. Hell even the LS1 with a stick is 31 hp less than the automatic

Your right Dave it looks like just the flat hood got hp....I think that's a misprint...although,flat hood got 4 hp last year and ram air didn't...
