Re: Stock Eliminator already at quota for E-town

Look at the sportsman pits....EVERYBODY think's they have to have the biggest rig rolling. I race out of a 24 Ft Pace pulled by a dually, which use to be a large overall rig for a sportsman, now it's one of the smallest. None of the tracks (even ones like Atlanta owned by NHRA and remember when Gainesville was one of largest facilities with good pit parking around? ) are going to invest in the infrastructure to support more pits; it just doesn't make economic sense for the 1-2 times a year it becomes an issue. I've been a long time supporter of NHRA and consider myself a glass half-full type of person but there are many indicators that NHRA's business model will move toward minimal sportsman participation at National events, and quota reduction of classses that are staff intensive, like Stock and Super Stock...

My 2 cents...

From a spectators point of view, i love e-town was my first national event my dad took me to in the mid 80's. Up to three days attending now, but if they start cutting down stock/super stock i wont attend national events anymore. I always felt a little spoiled because of the quality of racers and the car counts in D1. NHRA will learn just like Nascar is learning that fans stop coming when they dont like what you do.

True, it's not the norm, but they did have all 3 Super classes last year along with both alcohol classes; yet 89 Stockers were entered and made runs. You can verify this on NHRA.com. So someone explain to me why this year, with no alcohol cars, the Stock quota is 64.

I did a bit more research.
Last year 59 Super Stockers made runs in addition to the 89 Stockers that did the same; Stock and Super Stock entries totaled 148, there were 35 alcohol cars running, and all 3 Super classes were running.
This year the Stock quota is 64 and the Super Stock quota is 90, which totals 154 which is basically the same as last year. All 3 Super classes are running just like last year. But the big difference is that this year there won't be 35 alcohol cars taking up pit space. As I asked previously, where is the logic?
