Re: IHRA Memphis Superstock
Maybe consentrate in the south east where the majority of their racer base is and apply more time and energy on the IHRA "local" tracks. This would allow them to build up a larger racer and fan base to help overcome this hard economic time. Ther are more racers from the east that don't go west than west racers that don't go east, if you know what I mean. Sad to say IHRA was a more than viable option for racing yesterday than it is today. They have tried hard to make it work on a larger scale but,in my opinion, time to pull in the reigns some.

Re: IHRA Memphis Superstock
Memphis IHRA race this pass weekend had great weather. Car count was low in SS but still had a quality show along with the stockers. All racers seem to have fun. Track people kept thanking us for coming and race with them. Finished Sunday by 4:00pm.
Ms. Brittney and myself had a great time. Won enough to pay for all 4 entries. A little change left over. Went Graceland with Amy and Kenny Faulk on Monday. Kenny buying lunch. Great weekend with our racing friends and meeting new ones. |

Re IHRA Memphis or NHRA Baytown
Debating Memphis or Baytown Oct 12-14?
I figure it will be a typical IHRA vs NHRA weekend... guess will boil down to money vs points for most. |
Re: IHRA Memphis Superstock
Actually, I am. I have not been to an IHRA race in over a year. Always enjoyed racing with them. A good friend has asked me to tow over to Memphis with him instead of going to Baytown.
I would need to join IHRA again. If I came, I wouldn't get to race on Sunday, right? Guess I need to do some reading. |
Re: IHRA Memphis Superstock
Ed, You would get to race on Sunday if you win your class (without re-entry) in the Sportsman Spectacular held Fri. - Sat. That is the last race where someone can qualify for the TOC World Finals on Sunday.

Re: IHRA Memphis Superstock
Thanks Myron!
Re- entry? They now have buy backs in SS? :-( |
Re: IHRA Memphis Superstock
Myron, does it work the same way for no box? Or would I have to attend the bracket finals? I guess what I'm asking is can I race no box sat for a shot at the no box toc?

Re: IHRA Memphis Superstock
Cody,
I haven't really followed the Summit Super Series rules, but the fields are set for the bracket cars. Using a completely different format, I believe they were determined at the respective divisional ET finals after racers ran for points on a local level at their "home" track. But they won't have any other bracket cars at this particular Sportsman Spectacular anyway because the time is needed for the ET finalists. Ed, They prefer to call it a "re-enty" round. The first round losers can run each other and then the winners can proceed to the regular 2nd round. It's not an automatic buy-back. You have to work for it. This is only in effect if there are less than 64 cars. 64 or more = no re-entry. This is basically so they don't lose their butt while trying to provide a decent payout. A guaranteed $5,000 + contingency for $200 entry is pretty good in my book. Unfortunately, IHRA still got burned bad at San Antonio because very few cars showed up! But they paid. |
