Re: LIVE from Norwalk LODRS
Stockers are in the lanes but the super comp final from Indy just ran and one of the dragsters crashed. Hopefully the driver is ok, they are not saying anything over the PA. It's going to be a late night before they get everything done.

Cell service is better than 7 years ago when you had to be at the top of the grandstands, but mobile data has been spotty at the very best. Just trying to look up DRC has been nearly impossible at most times. Pictures will be posted Sunday night or Monday when it becomes feasible to do so.
Huge show today, with the expected Bader flair and tens of thousands of fans filling the stands to capacity and lining the fences. Lots of folks took the time to stop and learn more about the cars. First round was nutty, as the slight tail we had toward the end of qualifying turned into a gusty headwind, causing numerous drivers to miss the dial by .05+. Jeff Taylor and I both over compensated, and he got me in a double breakout in Stock. Got by in Super Stock, where I was still probably missing by .02 even after dialing up .07 from my best run. These conditions have not been for the faint of heart! Anticipation for next year's Northern Class Nationals is pegged. Lots of excitement and support from everyone. Much appreciated! Now if only this will post... |
Re: LIVE from Norwalk LODRS
Many pics taken, but here's a video of Mr. Beard disposing of his 2nd round opponent. Crappy camera work and crappy camera, but you get the idea. :D

Re: LIVE from Norwalk LODRS
What an awesome event, track, and the guys at Norwalk know how to put on a show and put fans in the stands. This event will definitely be on the "don't miss" list of futures events for us.

Joe Buchanan strapped a .005 bulb on me and took the win light, both of us running .04 over as our previously steady tailwind disappeared right at the start of the Super Stock session... and then the excitement that nobody ever wants started. I believe his trans went into 1st gear, and the Mustang went into a somewhat controlled slide, smoke boiling off all four tires, continuing pretty straight in the shutdown area despite the car being pretty sideways. Joe did a great job of keeping the car in his lane, and just barely got into the wall. I jammed the throttle to get clear and give him room, and frantically motioned back up the track to the top end crew. He got the car stopped and later was actually able to drive it off the track. In an amazing effort, a crowd of folks jumped into action, swapping out the flat-spotted tires, yanking the trans to go through it, and getting it back in the car in time to make 4th round! Re: LIVE from Norwalk LODRS
Wow! 40,000 spectators and thanks to Michael there are photos to prove it. Looks like Norwalk really knows how to put on a LODRS event. So why aren't all the other points meets packed like this?
