YEAH had a General Kinetics cam too ..wow are they still in business?

My 1969 Impala 350/255 with a Woodro Built engine had a Lunati Cam he recommended.
Someone stole that engine.

At any rate that car is going for a full "cost too much money" restoration.
But it has been a Stocker since I bought it from Bob LaSala in 1975.

Budd Rowe built up a engine and think it has a cam from the 70's.
Only made 371 hp on the dyno. Used a set of GM Pinks Rods.
Bob Bender says he has a cam that I maybe interested in.

Glad it is a frame off because that frame had cracks in it.
Mostly small spots and needed patching in the Axle and Spring Pirtch areas.

No I don't think GK has been around in quite some time. As far as spring eaters, My old E car (68 302 Camaro) cam Dynamics cam would destroy springs every third pass. Out it came

That would be tough to afford, besides the work. I'd pull it too. Dang!

I have heard a lot about Springs getting eaten up by the Blueprinted Cams.
Back then we had to use Stock Spring pressure.
Never had a problem with the 929 Chevy cams for the 350/250/255/300

What was happening ?

Only spintron I ever heard about back then was the one Buddy Morrison built . "spin fixture" is what I remember them calling it. Commercially built units people buy now are powered by electric motors. What they built was a SBC (no pistons) powered by a 460" Ford engine, running at a 2-1 overdrive. 5K for the 460" was 10k (DUH! LOL) for the sbc mockup, which is about what guys were turning them back then. I don't remember if they loaned it to Cam Dynamics, or Comp. But, that was the first time I heard of valve springs smoking. Think it was Gordon Holloway telling me about seeing that. It was during valve float.

Harmonics was killing stock valve springs. That is all we were allowed to run.

So the Harmonics were hurting the Springs or were they heating up changing the yield and losing spring pressure or both?
