All you need is a boiler and a radiant starting line!

I'd love to find a track owner that was game for that idea....here's a 350' driveway we did recently:

We were in Alaska for Christmas visiting the grandchildren and I checked the DA app on my phone (I do that too much when I'm not at the race track) and at one point I saw it was -5200'. I got a little sad that the race car was 4000 miles away ... and oh yeah, that it was -18 degrees with 2' of snow on the ground.

Michael, what NHRA class do you run?

GT/HA. I did notice it's not listed in Nitro Joe's Stats, probably just because the passes I made in Mike Volkman's rent-a-ride in the same class were faster than the ones in my car. I went 10.369 at the Maple Grove LODRS. http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...r2013#indextop

Alaska Raceway Park has a heated starting line. Bandimere is plumbed for cooling... I imagine they could use it to heat it as well.

28 degrees, 38% Humidity, Dew Point 5 Degrees, Barometer 30.62.
We actually ran in -1,700' DA at Maple Grove's Footbrake Nationals many years ago. Scraped ice off the windshield that morning. Everyone was about a half a second faster than normal! Track hooked just fine. Also many years ago, Rob Robertson ran himself in the finals one night of the Thanksgiving Footbrake Nationals at Piedmont in NC. 28 degrees and running in the 5's. (1/8th mile)

You can make a starting line hook with little problem. Downtrack is more of a challenge as it just doesn't maintain the heat and the groove can disappear. Piedmont has a track *heater*.

Race IQ . I think it was about 10 dollars. It uses info from local airports to calculate DA

We have Androids and it's called Density Altitude Calculator IIRC. It was free. I just went to the Play Store and typed in density altitude calculator and several came up. Picks up the weather and elevation from the nearest local airport. I've checked it with the online drag times one and it's pretty close.

I have RaceIQ on a Kindle. Sometime I need to try it. Does get the weather here at home, but we have a wireless router with Cox Cable. Don't know if it will work without it. Always get busy and forget about it. Looks great, quite a deal for ten dollars.

I'll have to see if there is a DA app for an iPhone.

Thanks guys!!

I have Race IQ for iphone. The DA calculator on it is fairly close. I mainly use it for logging runs, comparing runs, and helping to figure the dial in. I like it because you can compare any part of the runs. It breaks it down pretty well.

I opened myself up for that one….haha. It usually doesn't almost hit the wall, but it's a normal occasion that I use a good portion of the track. Kind of comes with the territory of a 26x10" tire, 94.5" wheelbase, 1200hp car. :)

Thanks, unfortunately the Gators turned into just a test session for us, so we were all kind of in a bad mood that race as it's not how we wanted to start out the season. Usually we are all very approachable, so you definitely caught us at a bad time. :)
