And last time I check I didn't know a Cavalier was a RWD V8 car. ;) |
Re: Super Stock Trivia Question...
Well, Carey I apologize.
I wasn't aware of that, must be how the VW is running too, now that I think about it. Glad to here your going to be out more this year. Last past I saw you make at indy in the fall, you was all out of shape. Man that car is wicked fast. Ernie Neal SS 354 |

Thanks.
Haha, yeah that was scary. I mean the car is always a bit unstable but that was ridiculous. I pretty much was bracing for impact. Guess my car doesn't like a cold track. :) that plus too much clutch and we just fixed a fuel pressure issue before that pass and we were putting down quite a bit more power than we ever had way too early. Guess we found what the car didnt want. Kind of got away from me. I'll be attempting to run some comp this season. And just so you know , my cavalier comment was tongue and cheek. No disrespect intended. Just wanted to clarify if the wink icon didn't dictate that. |

Re: Super Stock Trivia Question...
Actually, the first year for MX was '75, IIRC. It was always a Modified subclassification and it was originally named "Mini Experimental". The first entries, (at Pomona that year), were two SCCA Toyotas. It was designed as a place for the non-VW four-cylinders so they wouldn't affect the Modified Compact (MC) classes. The NHRA later expanded the parameters to accommodate the V6s which became rampant a few years later.
Originally, the cars weren't permitted tube chassis. That came when "A" was allowed V6 engines and the class pretty much went full-tilt Pro Stock configuration around 1980. Many of you remember Mick Lieferman's white/orange Trans Am MX car; it was originally Ed Dixon's Hardy-built Pro Stocker. BTW, I don't know why the current announcers call 'em "Modified Experimentals". |
