I could be wrong but I don't believe so. 2010s, 2012s and 2013s can become 2014s fairly easily. Some have done this already - Bo Butner's white CJ has been updated a few times. However I'm thinking that 2008s are stuck as 2008s.

The COPO 427 and the factory shootout engine are so far apart it's not even funny. The factory shootout engine also gets a 30lbs weight break on the normal engine. From what I heard new Challenger 426 is the same, not even close to there factory shootout engine. Makes no sense.

If they don't make a separate classes for them I know of a few racers that will not be racing NHRA.

That is correct. Everything changed. The only things that remained the same was the front windshield and the roof line on the 05-09 Mustang and the 2010-14. Even the quarter windows changed in size. Actually even the floor pan changed. There was also another revision to the floor pan in 2013 IIRC.

Obviously the 2.3L blower won't make as much as the 2.9L, but Fezell has been 8.50 (yes at a much lighter weight), quicker than any Coyote has been so far. I think "no where close" is a pretty big exaggeration.

Also, since the FS classes are now weight/hp based, will he not have a 38 hp x 6 lb/hp = 8 lb break against the 2014s?

08 auto/Stick 505/498
13 auto/stick 531/500
14 auto/stick 543/525

The 13 coyote(5.0/2.9) makes 100-150hp more then the 5.4/2.3 in the 08. The 2014 uses a smaller blower pulley. The 5.0 has more RPM capability which is where the Ford Modular engines make their power. The 13 stick has about 2tenths advantage over the 08 stick. The 13 auto has a tenth advantage. The stick combinations in the 13/14 will start getting HP bumps though once some of them are built.
