Keep your fingers crossed......

That's a great idea Bruce.

That would solve the problem.

All stock eliminator cars should race under the same rules. Having 2 sets of rules at the same race is just wrong. Bruce you were #2 qualifier at the gators in my book.

When first hearing about the rule change thought it was great and fixed the problem. Later on info on the shootout came out with it still part of the regular eliminator and qualifying........
That didn't fix the qualifying situation many were upset about at Indy or the other national events on the schedule.
The reality is NHRA and manufacturers want the shootout (so do we) but cannot bring themselves to create a separate eliminator for it promote correctly and feature it on TV.
Until they all step up problrm not fixed 100% it's only money.

It would be really easy to fix this, and then everyone would be happy. No AHFS for ALL stock eliminator cars at the races where the FS race is contested.

These are the same complaints that have existed since these cars were exempt from the AHFS. Same problem different year.

Yes, and that is the problem. Look at 2014 Indy or last week's Gators. They can come in and bomb the sheets and never suffer the consequences like the regular class Stockers. They should be in their own eliminator. Let them run and gun all they want but they should not be dumping on all the other cars because they are not subject to the same rules as Stock Eliminator.

Both at Indy and this years Gators the outcome would not have been different if the AHFS rules were in effect for the FS/X cars .The race winner would still have won and the number one qualifier would still be number one- and BTW - lets not forget that a 'new' car won both events with just good 'ole great driving and performance meant nothing. And since old cars no longer race new ones head-up what would be changed ? Maybe you'd see more 1000' racing but who wants that ..........I know I'm gonna hate myself for posting this but its a slow Friday here in Pennsylvania with plenty of snow falling so a little Internet jousting might help the day pass .Bring it on kids - I've got all afternoon ...............

Totally irrelevant to this topic and a poor effort to defend a double standard. The FS/X cars have carte blanche to hit the sheet as hard as they want while the rest of the racers struggle to get on the sheet. Many good racers that had to abide by the rules were pushed out at Indy because of the FS/X cars. But that is OK with you. It's a convoluted system to benefit the corporate cars. And it must stop.

Not hardly as the same cars would have been on the top of the sheet -- just lifting early .Poor effort ??? - mine is based on fact and numbers - not agenda .Not one car would have moved up if the AHFS were in effect .

And BTW I do care about racers who didn't make the field -- much, much more than most ! !

The main issue I see is that some FS cars that qualified for Indy last year may not have qualified if AHFS had been in effect for them earlier in the year. So it is likely that the outcome would have been different for some people. Yes, the indexes are lower in these classes now, so that should help, but the AHFS should really be in effect for everyone or no one.

Good point Andrew which I can't comment on till I look at the sheets from last years Gators - and E-town .I'm not so sure the outcome on the sheets would have been guaranteed .

BTW, no one is mentioning the fact that 14 new cars didn't qualify at Indy last year also.
