You are correct.
Use that tolerance for the B-Body Chevy's.
Have Dick Miller Bolt on stuff.
My stock arms and bushings were all beaten up after 200k of driving and many runs on the Strip.

How about adjustable pinion snubbers?

YEAH you can do that!
Once you establish best height you will not move it.

I used glue and pieces of wood on my 1969 Impala.
Make sure you have a full inch of travel.
