Re: Oil starvation issues SBC HELP?
OK Carl.....thats why I'm asking here. I don't do it for a living.
Bleed off is a good point. I'll definetly look at the cam bearings , lifter bore clearance and rod side clearance. I can't change the side clearance without ordering new rods , which I'm not. I will buy a good pan if ness. |
Re: Oil starvation issues SBC HELP?
BTW.No one has referenced an accumulator AT ALL.
Why not? In theory could work. |

Side clearance is not a factor in bleed off, I have build piston guided rod engines with .115 side clearance and no issues. Its bearing clearance which regulates the amount of oil bleeding out between the rods. Jake Stelter engine won Drag week 2 years in a row had some issues and was correct with a pan and pump. He is on F/B and might be of some help. http://www.dartheads.com/dartboard/s...light=pressure Good luck only trying to help. Carl |

Re: Oil starvation issues SBC HELP?
It won't fix the problem, just mask it.
Did you check bearing clearance yourself, with a bore gauge, or plastigauge? As mentioned, aluminum rods grow with heat (any) and the bearing clearance will grow with it. |

If your using a cheap bore gauge with rigid fingers your not going to get a correct clearance. Not to many guys can afford good bore gauges to check bearing clearances. Here is a thread on different bore gauges. http://www.performanceboats.com/gn7-...learances.html |
